I did the same thing, and while its annoying it is definitely fixable! You can always go back and do some grinding through the level to farm some CP.

That's what I did. I had to go back and forth a few times from the save point before Odin to as far back as I could go (I think where you enter the level after riding that big mech thing) and then back and forth again. Also, have you upgraded your weapons? I would definitely upgrade Lightning's weapon if can be. I didn't realize how to do it and I wasted valuable components on upgrading an iron bangle accessory for Hope.

I want to say you have too little HP, but I'm uncertain. So long as you fight pretty much everything you run across without fighting anything twice you should not have to really worry about wasting CP on anything until Chapter 9 or 10. Right now if you fight everything you should before the Crystarium recently upgraded have had almost everything completed.

If you the Crystarium before the most recent upgrade was not nearly completed then you could be underpowered. You did not answer how much fighting you have been doing which is a factor as well. But I want to say with 400 and 600 HP that it is far too low. It is still early in the game, but I think it should be higher than that. You should have some HP bangles around that will help to give Hope some extra HP so that he can survive the hits that he takes.
