Is your first FF your favourite?

It seems like this is true for a lot of people. And I know a lot of you already realise this, but now I wanted to do an actual poll on this thing.

Is the first Final Fantasy you ever played your favourite today?

If yes, do you think that is because it was your first? What did you like about it so much?

If no, what Final Fantasy do you like best and how does it compare to your first Final Fantasy experience?

Yep, Final Fantasy IX was my first Final Fantasy and it became my favorite. Not only based on the fact that it was the game that introduced me to the series but by comparison after playing all the other games I still enjoyed Final Fantasy IX fully as a game then the other installments. The others were great but IX had developed characters, an involving story, great villains, plot twists and an all around great experience.

So long story short, yes my first Final Fantasy was IX and it is my favorite.

Well the first Final Fantasy I ever played was FFVIII but the first FF I ever beat was IX.

But you didn't ask first beat. So my answer is now. FFVIII is not my favorite FF in the series. I like IX, not because I beat it first, I just like it.

Final Fantasy VII was my first, and my favorite. There are some nostalgic feelings I get when thinking about the game. I hadn't played anything like it when I first played it, so I was pretty obsessed with how cool it was.

After I beat it, I played the rest in order, and then went and played some of the older ones. There were points in time where I thought some of the newer games were going to be my favorite instead, but after beating them and reflecting VII has stayed my overall favorite.

My first Final Fantasy was IX, which has been my favorite along with XII and recently XIII for a while now. I don't like it because it's my first, but because of the gameplay and story elements. A little while after, i started to played IV, but I couldn't get into it from the start. It seemed so different from IX, in not such a good way. IX just drew me in.

IX was the first Final Fantasy I played, though at that time I wasn't sure how I felt about it since I didn't put enough time into it to make a proper judge, to explain it a little better I though it was a nice "adventure" game. For that reason alone I consider Final Fantasy VIII as my first Final Fantasy experience, after all, it was the first one I actually played and the first one I've beaten.

Final Fantasy VIII is not my favorite, IX is, though it's a close call along with Final Fantasy VI. As to why it's my favorite, well, it has the best story, characters and music I've seen so far (elements I appreciate the most in games), though not the battle system.

The first FF I actually played was IX.

And Yeah it's my fave and the reason is I've had the most fun playing that game more than any FF ever, or more than any game in general.

Since it was my first, I spent so much time on it, and if I played any other FF before IX I don't know if that would have made it my fave instead. I think I just happened to play the one I'd like most, first anyway.

My first was III on the SNES (which is actually VI) when I was 3 or 4, although I really like it its not my favorite, the next I played at a more comprehensiable age (I think I just made up a word...) was VII, which doesn't compare to VI but... Next I played in order I, II, III, IV, and V (... not on purpose, I garuantee you that.) and I have to say that my favorite is IV, well developped characters, story, and gamplay.

Now the difference between the first I played and the 6th I played aren't a big gap, but IV just has more of an appeal to me.

So no, my favorite is not the first I played.

My first Final Fantasy (and RPG) was VIII, which was my first beat as well. BUT, my most favorite was VII, which I also beat. I really enjoyed VIII, and I thought IX was alright, but in my opinion VII is the best.

my first to play and beat was XII and to this day its still my favorite. the story line isn't too original, but to me its the gameplay that makes it a lot of fun.

My first FF was VIII, then after beating VIII, I went and played VII,IX,X,XII,I,II.Then, after careful evaluation of all of them based on the thing you would review a game for, I came to the the conclusion that VIII was my favorite (Plus, nostalgia is very powerful.).

My favorite ended up being VII because of its storyline and how it was so popular it had a movie, prequels, and sequels plus some off cannon stories.

It's true for me. Final Fantasy VII is, and will always be my favourite.

It was my first RPG too, and I've played it half to death, but even that hasn't turned me away.

FFVII was my cherry popping firsty, and is also my favorite. The story was original, the characters were well thought out and had individual personalities that reflected on their past and personal experiences, made the characters seem a bit more realistic. Unfortunately one of my friends was a big enough prick to point out to me that once Sephiroth is introduced to the storyline it takes a bit of an Inuyasha (My absolute most disliked animes of all time) turn in the aspect of that almost all of the events thereafter basically are over-toned with a "Must get Sephiroth and make him dead" kind of approach and that kind of made the game lose a bit of its luster to me. Although FFVII has an end (which saves it) and Inuyashsa does not (Extremely annoying or Kills it). Culmination in a story is Important but I will end it with that sos not to spark an off topic debate.

My first FF game is one of my favorites. The top spot of favorite FF game is shared between VII and XII, with VII being my first (though it wasn't my first RPG). The rest of my list sort of varies with how I feel at the time, but those two stay at the top.

I suppose the reason VII is among my top faves is because it's the most fun for me, and I love the characters. XII is great because it has an expansive and interesting world, and I love how much freedom there is with character customization.

I beat the dogshit out of this game when I was seven years old. It was my first and I haven't played it since then... Until just the other day, I downloaded the original "FFII" release version off of the Wii's Virtual Console. I thought that VII was my favorite... And even though it's a great game and definitely influenced me more, FF7 < FF4.

Damn you ****ers are making me feel old. FFI was the first FF that I played. I was young and couldn't realy get into it all that much. There was alot to it and Excite bike was well up on my list along side LoZ.

Then I played VI and IV about the same time when I was a little older. VI managed to win out as my favorite at the time and has continued to top my list since. There have been a few that I thought might be able to take it down (like Chad and VII) but over all ended up falling short. IV is a very close runner up.

Actually, looking back on my first 3, it's pretty much in order of how I like them. VII was my second FF, and is my second favourite, while IX was third, and is my third favourite.

Well, it sort of means what you mean by first.

The first one I ever played did not become my favorite, that was 1.

The first one I played through to completion however, did. That was FFX. I used to have an extrordinarly short attention span, and didn't have the patience to play through a game like that, but X was the first I made it all the way through without quitting halfway through for months on end and forgetting about the events of the first half of the game.

No. The first Final Fantasy I've ever played was FFVII but my favorite is definitely FFX.

My first "Final Fantasy" was Final Fantasy, however I never really got far into the game. Eventually I would restart the game over and over in an attempt to get a fresh start, it was weird.

As for my favourite FF, that would have to go to Final Fantasy X; there are other FF's that are very close - in my "S" class - but Final Fantasy X just tops them. This game has my favourite soundtrack though Final Fantasy VI's is very close behind; the music in FFX, to me, conveys the emotion of the scene/area very well. Each character gets some background and I saw them develop - especially Tidus who turned into a warrior by the end of the game. The story for Final Fantasy X is one I love - taking down an evil religion. With Tidus' presence he was the "why" to the dogmatic practices/teachings of Yu Yevon; in a sense he was the reason to the irrationality in Spira. Finally I have to give props to Auron.

Yeah it's funny that the very first Final Fantasy game that I ever played and finished, the game which was my first is Final Fantasy X. I love the gameplay, the charcters and this game was the only Final Fantasy game which I felt like I was the main character (Tidus).

Absolutely agree. X had one of the best soundtracks of the entire series. The story was unique, the characters were all very deep, whaeras previous games really only went into one or two characters in that depth, and of course, Auron was a BAMF.

My first FF was FFI, it was my fav because without it there would be no FFII-FFXIII today including side games. Also because it was both my first FF game and the first FF it kind of gave me a basis for all the FF's. I really like the battle theme song and i rember the first time i ever clocked it; I thought it was so hard, but then i finally beat him and i was jumping around and screaming. . .Good times.

Funnily enough the first Final Fantasy I played is my favourite. The first game from the series that I played was FFVIII. Ever since I first played that one it has been my favourite. I must be playing it for the 20th time by know and still it excites me and really makes me happy...
Maybe it is because it was what introduced me to the series... So it will always have a prime place in my heart ;P

The first FF I played was IV, so yes. At the time I thought it was amazing, and it still is. I loved the music, characters, plot, ending, everything. And I did love the side quests, even though there weren't as many as I was hoping to see.
