Who failed harder? *Possible Spoilers*

So, I'm just taking the three games where I think they failed the hardest at achieving what they set out to do. You decide which was the worst:

1. The characters in FFIV trying to protect/defend all the crystals from being stolen and failing to protect even one.

2. The characters from FFVI going through all the trouble they went through in the first half of the game, only to still fail preventing Kefka from getting to the statues and tearing the world apart.

3. The characters from FFVII failing to prevent the summoning of Meteor.

I would say FFIV is the biggest fail, in fact, I wouldn't hesitate to say it is an EPIC fail.

Not being able to protect even ONE crystal is terrible, but then they may have had a harder time than other characters in other titles lol.

I would say FF VII only because the characters would have to be dense enough not to realize their spikey haired leader is not quite right in the head, and starts to try to hand the black materia to sephiroth, or even try to get the black materia in the first place.. I mean even the wall and that mama's boy rant in a room of visions there even told them that it would be a bad idea to get the black materia.

I'd have to say IV. Not even ONE crystal? Come on man.

Not to sound like a parrot but definitely FFIV, because of, surprise, the crystals.

I don't look at any of them as "fails" honestly, because none of them were really failed on their own behalf. They did as much (or more so) than the hero is supposed to be capable of. If they had NOT fallen for some of the stuff, they'd be labeled gods in their games.

In IV for example, Cecil knows something is amiss from the start, but helps gather the crystals, because the man he sees as his king is giving the orders. When he does go against them, he's essentially shoved out the door. On top of his weapon being nigh-useless against the enemies he was up against. (speaking lore-wise there, yummy yummy Death sword before going up Mount Ordeals <3 ) After that point, it's essentially an uphill battle the entire time against Golbez's entire forces. Starting off from behind kinda screws ya in the end.

In VI, hell, they're essentially nothing but a rag-tag team of gathered people who happen to be capable of using magic, going up against a man who's had access to far stronger magics. And who also offed his own boss. Little bit of a back-stabber there, ne? Plus he killed the only other character (at the time) who was supposed to be on his own level.

VII...okay, I don't really have many excuses for that one except that someone SHOULD have cold-clocked Cloud the moment he started goin all zombie on'em, lol.

By all rights Cloud should have ben in an asylum by that point in the game. Even at the beginning he was really weird, it's beyond me why they didn't think anything of it.

Wasn't too fond of ffx-2 but not sure that is really a fail.

In viii the concept of losing ones memory because of summons wasn't quite developed for me. Sure I get it that everyone a balamb forgot each other because they used them but wouldn't they.have recognized each other when they first started to use them? I could be wrong but it just did not sit well for me.

On a different kind of fail, I think quistis's emotions for squall in the beginning equalled fail.

Everyone seemed to have failed sooner or later but yeah, big fail for IV, especially when trying to protect the crystal from Yang's castle, granted I know for the storyline they had to fail, but really you let edward defend and leave the black mage behind? Are you stupid or just crazy? lol
