    Theatrhythm Final Fantasy

Who has it? Who wants it?

We got it yesterday (which was early, but Cilla's shop had it delivered for sale and it wasn't going to break the street date as they didn't have one) so we were one of the first to get it in Australia. Or anywhere outside Japan so go us!

I've played it for a couple of hours and it's a genuinely entertaining little game. I won't go into details as there's already been enough spoken about it but suffice to say, the music quality is outstanding and it's made me itch to play some older Final Fantasy titles again. I believe it came out in the US today and in Europe on Friday so have at it!

I'm getting it in a couple hours. I pre-ordered it the day I heard of it, since the Dissidia spin offs are my favorite, and this one combines everything I play Final Fantasy for- Music, Cutscenes, and Memories. I honestly can't wait to go grab it.

    UPDATE

It's everything I was hoping it would be, and a little bit more! I love it. Definitely a Final Fantasy Anniversary game to remember.

Very much agree. I didnt think id like this game, but I find it a very refreshing title. It has the rpg element intertwined with the musical gameplay say that of rockband or guitar hero. The musical tracks are great and theres plenty of unlockables. I wish there would be more music tracks, although having said that, there is a total of 70 tracks (im pretty sure) in the game.

I have reached 10,000 rhythm points but I know theres more to be unlocked. Not sure if I will play beyond though as getting 10,000 points takes long enough and that was doing songs I hadnt already completed. Im sure if you want to get all of the unlockables, you will be playing a very repetitive game.

Have you done any of the Dark Notes/ Ran back through the main story on Expert? You'll find yourself racking up Rhytmia like no other once you do, and you unlock new songs every once in awhile. I just hit 50k and I think I've still got 6 or so songs to unlock, and I haven't even fully levelled up my second party OR found all of the extra characters!

This game looks pretty fun, and I'm kicking myself for not having a 3DS to play it on. I thought the 3DS was kinda fad-ish so I never bought one. Bah.

    .....what?
I think you're trying to say it's childish and all you do is move around the world map. The world map bit is incorrect for every Dissidia to date, including Theatrhythm. There are three distinct play modes for Theatrhythm, including Field, Battle, and Event. In Duodecim and Dissidia, there was world map navigation interrupted by several duels.

As for the childish thing, it kind of adds a special charm to the game. Final Fantasy has always had a way of mixing in lightheartedness with the brutal subject matter at hand, like Shakespearean plays, and the art style for this one (and the goofy strings of words the characters make) is a testament to that comic relief. But, if you don't like it, I can understand why. I didn't expect it to work like it has.

Well, I've beaten it now. I don't think getting 10k took that long if I'm honest! I did all the Basic Course, a few Advanced songs and got mostly SS on them. I'm about 12 Dark Notes in, and I'm looking forward to unlocking some of the characters to use - not to mention that elusive SSS.

There's a great guide on the net for it already, explains the ratings and how the Dark Notes aren't actually random at all. I'm hoping there's going to be more than the 12 DLC songs out, especially at $1.50 AUD a pop.

Couldn't agree more, this is the epitome of a hit and miss title so I see where you're coming from. Thankfully it's been well developed, and has a fair bit of replay value. I like it a lot, and I didn't expect to.

Haa, I had a chance to get this when it came out but now I can't find a copy anywhere. I am glad you did a small review of it for us on here though because I was judging it on the same trailers and online reviews (which aren't always the best source.) I just can not find any DS game I can play for more than 1-5 hours, except for FF4 which I've played many times on the SNES back in the day.. I used to play DDR religiously and then moved on to stepmania (both dance pad and one-handed) on my PC. Those days are mostly over now and wasn't sure if I wanted to relive it. I'll wait another month probably before getting this one, but again, thanks for making the thread.

Most welcome! Put simply if you're a fan of rhythm games and you have timing you'll find this a doddle, and I reckon the appeal lies in the nostalgia. It's just fun to play, a really innocent fun little game. It gives you a bit of a thrill down your neck when you're tapping along to OWA while fighting a cartoon Anima from FFX. It's worth the outlay. Does anyone have any of the secret characters yet? Please be sure to spoiler tag for others

    Re: Theatrhythm Final Fantasy

I have a few of them unlocked:
    SPOILER!!:
I've unlocked and leveled Rydia up to 99, unlocked Prishe, Shantotto, Yuna, Faris, Minwu, Cid, and Snow. I've got three crystals each for Locke, Kain, and Sephiroth (I assume it's them by the colour of crystal and silhouette), four crystals for Seifer, Ashe and Princess Sara, seven for Vivi and Aerith, and six for Cosmos.

Also, what's your guys' current Rhythmia? I'm at 64538rm.

I just got this game a few days ago. It started out really cute and well not completely simple but just really carefree and sort of a relaxing tone; and then the Dark Notes started to become unlocked and well... the diffculty picked up really fast and unexpectedly... I'm sort of struggling now to be honest.

I'm close to unlocking Vivi, Cid Haze and Princess Ashe though.

For some reason this name 'Cid' sounds familiar...

haha, j/k. The most Over-Powered Cid was from FF4 for sure. I'll have to try Theatrhythm here soon.

I also thought it would be quite boring. To my surprise it was very amusing.
