    Proposal for Boss Battles

I've been thinking about this for awhile and wondered what you might think.

I like to have challenging boss battle, and sometimes if you've leveled up a little too much, the battle becomes rather stale. You just beat the thing to death without thinking about it much at all and move on. It's sort of anti-climactic.

So what I propose is that in future games, that the bosses level up at least to match your level, so that you can't level yourself up so much that the Boss battles turn into cake walks.

I think it would ensure that the games are both challenging and interesting throughout. What do you think?

Most of the FF games that I played so far were easy and to be honest most of them even lacked on challenges, which bugs me because I always appreciated few decent challenges. Locke your idea isn't bad but if you remember FF VIII worked on the same principle but unfortunately junction system made the game too easy and most of the battles were pure joke with exception of the one with Omega Weapon. Sure, it would be great that boss battles become more challenging but nothing extreme, I wouldn't want to fight something even worse than Ozma.

If you don't want to steam roll a boss then don't spend the time to level up.

I have a fix for Xan's FFVIII statement. I played the game, with minimal random battles. I relied purely on the junction system to make my character better, I kept my whole party at the lowest level I could. I did level up but not that much. By the time I got Doomtrain, my highest level character was Squall at 29. My lowest, 17 which was Irvine. The game was very hard and very fun that way. Eden at the end of Disk 2 was incredibly hard for me. It's to bad I don't have that save anymore. :[

I still stay at my statement that the game is easy but too be honest I never really thought to play FF VIII like that, low level has always made game more fun and challenging. I should try that next time when I decide to play FF VIII.

The problem of leveling isn't to me as easy as simply not fighting. In games like VIII that would be easy enough, but what about in XII. In that game you have to fight in order to get loot to sell for weapons which are very expensive. Or in X, where no matter how you strategize, you still have to run the same distance to get to the next location. You can just make a beeline to the next town and be done with it.

I hear what you're saying though. Leveling as little as possible certainly makes it more challenging. I like to play more though. Sometimes I just like to go battle or get long chains in XII. I wish that didn't have to detract from the challenge of boss battles.

My first time playing FFXII I ran through the game. I beat the Elder Wyrm on my second try without any of my characters having quickenings. I got to Old archades before I stopped playing that file and stopped playing for about 2 years. The 2nd time I played it I grinded like crazy.

Also in FFX there are challenges to beat the game with no sphere grid and other things not to do. All about strategy.

Every time I played a Final Fantasy for the first time, I never spent time leveling up. I ran through the game, not training to help myself. It's more of a challenge to me. Other play throughs after that I do whatever.

If Bosses leveled with you would that mean that they would be a low level if you were one?? If so then random battles might become higher levels than bosses... I have to say there are times when I don't really care about game play and really just want to get a move on in the story so I skip random battles so I can know what happens next so I rarely am higher or par level with bosses so this would help me on many levels... but there are times I have leveled a lot so I can zip through. but in the long run I think bosses should be par level with your highest level character.

It doesn't matter to me I'll own the game any way but sometimes people just want to get through the game to see what happens so if the bosses are too challenging then it would be pretty annoying.

    * What I think would be a good Idea would be having a Normal, Hard, or Mania mode. That would be more fitting, so that if people want a challenge or just to zip right through, they could choose the difficulty accordingly.

I liked that in X the monsters in the arena were still a challenge, even with all stats maxed out. That did justice for me, it kept me occupied plus if the Arena wasn't there the game would be pretty boring hitting everything once and overkilling.

I'm thinking about creating a hybrid. A dolphin-monkey. Half dolphin, half monkey. Do you think it's possible?
I was thinking that since I'm artificially creating it, I'll create it with rocket fuel instead of blood, and thus it will be able to fly, using the dolphin's dorsal fins as wings. And from the air, it will look down upon us all and protect us against sharks, and search for bananas.
