I try to never flee from battle. I would rather get a game over than flee a battle, it's valuable experience that I'm losing if I fkee from a battle.
in any game how often do you flee from battle?
there are only a few times when i ever really have
1. in VIII when i tried stayin low level until i got the cactaur gf and the bonuses unlocked
2. in IX on my level one playthrough
3. X while collecting monsters to unlock nemesis when you run into lizards and insects hundreds of times for every once you see a tonberry
4. alot on my X speed/no save playthrough
5. when i havent saved for awhile and im near death
what about everybody else?

I always try to complete a battle, no matter how hard it is. However, in Final Fantasy VIII, when I am fighting the spider-thing after the Dollet Communication tower, I fleed then, several times.
Back when I was a Final Fantasy Noob, I would flee a lot. Now, not so much. I did want to know what everyone would say in Final Fantasy X when they use an ability. I was surprised to hear Tidus say a couple different phrases while using Flee. I wish that the spell casters said more than one phrase just once.
Social Group Endorsements, TFF Awards, and Other Accomplishments (Updated December 26, 2013):
I've done a couple, once in FFVII and FFXII, but even than I tried hard not to flee from battle. My theory is if you can't beat the random battles you won't beat the boss. So if I can beat the random battles with ease, than I feal comfortable enough to fight the boss.

I flee sometimes when the encounter rate gets insanely high. I don't want to spend a half hour just getting through a single area of a dungeon. Not like I flee all the time, though. I flee maybe from 10% of my battles.

Hardly ever... unless I was in a rush to get to the next save point... or when I wanted all the OD modes on X. Just for the sake of completion, 'ya know. hehe I'd really rather die and work on my strategy than flee. It's no biggie unless you forget to save.
I have done that MANY times.
Depends on if the battles are worth the EXP and spoils.
having said that,
In FFVIII, all the time.

Fleeing, ey? Usually from those battles where I gain little to almost nothing at that point, that and whenever I plan to reach my destination as fast as possible.
I use Diabolos "Enc-None" ability to avoid enemy's in Final Fantasy VIII, it's way faster and less tedious than simply running away from them.

I don't flee so much, just in these cases:
- If I passed through a very hard area, and I'm at a very low Stats without ways to recover it.
- If I'm in a hurry (In FFX-2 for example, I use charm bangle to avoid battles, it is surely more useful then)
It is the only cases, I like to battle a lot!

Only if I know Im ****ed. Or ive been lost for ages and Im sick to death of random battles. So I just refuse to do anymore til Im unlost. Either that or Ive just had enough of playing and I want to get to the nearest save point as quick as possible.
I forgot to say, in FFIV, alot of the time, I flee from battles involving bats. Bats of any kind. I just hate their Blood Feast attack. Especially when I used to play the SNES/PS version, since the attack was even slower in those versions.

I only tend to flee when I'm on the way back out of a dungeon after completing the objective and I've used up all my mp and items. Also there's a bit in FFIX (I forget where it was now) but my party consisted of Dagger, Eiko and Quina, which meant after a while I just had to flee because I had real way to fight.
I try to not flee a lot, because I swear the game notices me doing it and ups the encounter rate. Just the game's way of telling me not to be a wuss I suppose...
i lose all patience. Especially with the older games and it feels like youre in a random battle every 2 steps. Places like those caves in FFIV, where the floor damages you if youre not using float, and on top of that its like a maze
Or deserts. Just being in a desert is enough to make me get twitchy and want to flee
theres a dungeon in FFV. ****ing hated that game, but in particular this dungeon, all i remember was carbuncle was in there, and i kept falling through trap doors. i was furious by the time i got out because iof how long id been stuck there and having a battle like, every 2 steps
Never did get ****ing carbuncle. I'd had enough
Never. I would die first, because I at least try to win the battle, even if its hopeless.
I recall a kick-ass comparison between fleeing and not fleeing in FFX!
A friend of mine used didn't flee a huge amount but just continued his way through Spira until coming to the first fight with Seymour and could not, for the life of him, beat the dude
I loved the characters of FFX and was a real novice and idled lots in different places and progressed through the sphere grid (without fully understanding it) and when it came to mr Guado he went down pretty sharpish
why - YUNA!! he only started training heavily before the fight where he couldn't train Yuna thus leaving fewer white magic spells and abilities on your skills.
started a file on FFVIII last night, first battle in the game was a bloody T rexuar. And because it was on my PSP I had no idea how to flee ha. I did end up eventually escaping with my tail between my legs but there was no way i was dying at the start of teh game.... argh
I've fleed when I thought I had too, or I realize that I didn't save for like 6 hours and I want to make sure I don't die if some of my party is dead. The one time I run on purpose is in FF7 when you're in Corel while on the large bridge, you face a bomb. You barely get any exp if you beat it and after 3 hits it self destructs anyway, I don't see a point of fighting it so I just flee
