How long did each Final Fantasies Story Last?

I mean literal, what was the span of each games story?

They didn't change clothing, but I think that's because either the technical problems or laziness, or the Fantasy crap lol

Well, the only ones I can really say are FF8 and X cause, it seems it kinda tells us the end of each day.

Sorry for listing, but this way I can show you my understanding of each day.

FF8
After squall got his scare(one day)
After the SeeD Dance(2 days)
After the sorceress assination attempt(day three, tho it seems a little quick)

End disc one, 3 days in my understanding.

After the garden almost blew(day 3)
After Fishermans concert(Day 4)
After returning to the Garden after Trabia part(Day 5)
After Garden War(Day 6)

End disc 2...

I am literally playing through FF8 again right now to refresh my memory, so I will post more when I finish, but I think in all it is about a week and a half.

From looking from Beginning Zanarkand, to end game...
I think it is about 2 weeks...

I've always thought the stories go on for months at least, sometimes year or longer.
-VIII i think takes 5-6 months at least
-IX takes 1-2 years.
-X was a lot shorter though, maybe 3-5 weeks.
-XII even shorter, like 2-3 weeks

VI i think it's probably the longest, seems like it's going on for years.
I think with each new game it's less epic and the storyline seems to be a lot quicker (after IX at least). So like you go through it super fast and it doesn't have much timeline, or something that passes.

FFIX is a week at the most I think. I read a timeline and it looks like IX is actually 2 months. (can't be 100% positive on that though.

I couldn't find anymore that were detailed for days and what not.

I honestly think FFIX timeline is a month at the most.

Day 1 is Garnet's 16th Birthday. (play scene and evil forest)

Day 2 is Ice Cavern and Dali

I believe they stayed the night at Dali

Day 3/4 Lindblum and Burmecia

That's how I register F8's span.
Numerous times through the game, you see squall in his dorm, asleep, or what you believe to be sleeping. And then there are parts of the game that are dark and I guess supposed to render night. Then in some games there are random absences of time in which it gives you time to think about it.

2 days? They go into the town, fight off the army. Then the concert. Could be 1 day, could be 2.

Well, from what I can decipher from this page of the FFIX Ultimania, I say the game takes place in about...60 days? So 2 months. Each character has an event calender like this. This one is Zidane's.

I actually think it's impossible to travel the whole world and having everything happened in the storyline only in a week or few weeks.
What kind of super small universe is that, if you can take a few hours traveling on a boat around the planet
Everyone has their own opinions but i think most of the FF games, especially VI,VIII and IX happened in a long period of time.

From Balamb to FH. That took 3 weeks from coasting in the ocean. So I imagine from Balamb to FH while in flight mode would take 3-4 days?

EDIT: Or for all we know, they coasted in the opposite direction and went around the world and arrived at FH.

Some of the games like 6, and 9, give out specific dates. I think at the end of 9, doesn't it even say it's one year later?

Other games though, like 7, never really references an in-game story date or time frame that I recall, and neither does 8 or a few others.

But all in all, I really think it's up to your imagination.

Take 8 for example. It's totally up to you to decide how long it took for Balamb Garden to sail to fisherman's horizon, and there are numerous other events where you could make a case that it took anywhere from a day to a couple of weeks. If you take the time to go explore, then so did the characters, and thus it took more "real" time for them. It really is up to you to decide.

I do find it really really funny though to leave an intense "we have to go now" moment, and then run off to go raise chocobos or play cards, as though that would have been the characters next move.

Locke, while you are coasting in the Ocean. Squall says they have been coasting for weeks now when he is laying in his room usually right before Rinoa asks you to give her a tour (if you brought her with you).

Exactly, so weeks equals? 2 weeks? 4 weeks? 6 weeks? Who knows. But you're right that that instance at least gives a guideline. Other times though, it's much more vague.

Feels as though a game like 10, where they kept moving constantly, would have a more strict time table. But then we don't know how big that continent really was. If it was the size of North America lets say, it would take you a month or so walking at a pretty good pace, and they weren't exactly taking their time. Although you do have to had in a few days for the start of the blitz season, a day or two helping at Luca, a couple days to go and pick up Anima, A few days to go and fight off the marriage, and a few other things. I don't guess it needed to take more than 2 months if you really look at it.

But 6? Good lord there's so much happening in that game, who knows how long any of it would take. They could have been floating down that river for days.
