    Hardcore Challenges

    Hi

In the main series is there a specific challenge in each game that is considered the toughest challenge you can take on?

I'm not interested in 100% completion, just a tough play through where you have to take on all bosses, optional monsters and superbosses.

I saw one in a Final Fantasy 1 forum where you had to pick a random party, and you couldn't revive dead party members, or reload if something happens that you don't like.

After seeing that I became curious to see if there was a similar tough challenge in each of the games that I could take on.

It would give a great excuse to back through the series again, after I beat them all playing them the standard way.

    Re: Hardcore Challenges

Well, there's level 1 challenge in Final Fantasy IX. As the name indicates you have to beat the game with your characters on level 1. I myself gave it a try, while it was a fun experience I gave upon it halfway through.

It's all about right equipment, abilities, bit of luck and lots of patience, hard but doable. You can find a specific walkthrough for this kind of challenge, it's pretty much mandatory unless you're crazy enough to try it on your own.

    Re: Hardcore Challenges

I don't know about how challenging it would be, but what if you played Final Fantasy V as four Freelancers? You would probably have level grind and use items a lot. I have never tried it, but I think I will...one day.

The hardest part would probably be to not succumb to the temptation of using the crystal's powers and giving your characters jobs.

    Re: Hardcore Challenges

I took a challenge from a friend and tried to beat FFVII without leveling up my people beyond level 15. It didn't work, I got to the Rufus battle and died, it was way to hard. Someday I'll try it out again, when I have more patience.
