I'm curious, what would be some FF firsts that you would like to see? For example, there was a discussion about the characters sleeping above the covers when they rested for the night, so would anyone want to see that changed? Let me know what you think

I'd like to see the stand-around NPC's being less lifeless. It would be intersting to see the beds be used as beds too, yeah. I'd also like to see the romance plots make more of an impact on actions. Also, choices in game would be awesome. Ones that affect the way people view you or whatever. I think that FF needs to stop with the linear games, go back to the beginnning and make only the changes that would benefit them. I refuse to believe that they are putting all the effort they used to into games.

I would like to see more consumption of food and use of utilities such as bedrooms, showers etc. I dont know why =/ I just figured they never need to shower and its always played on my mind. Weird, huh?

But it has "changed" already. In the 2D games, (4 and 6 I remember specifically), they do sleep under the covers.

As for the topic, I thought about it and I'm honestly not sure what I'd like to see that hasn't been done already.

I like the idea of a more realistic feel as well on the note of showers and such. I would like to see firsts in combat focuses for main characters. I want to see classes and types of fighting not really done in the past. For an example, FF Type-0 has a card battle concept like Setzer in FFVI, but it's totally redone and turned into a combat system of its own unlike any other in the FF series. After all the mentions I have also seen in FF on fishing poles like in FFXII, I didn't see an actual class for it until FFXIV. It's called the Fisher class. It's very impressive to me.

I'd like to see more things like that. (I'd also like to see more bunnies and hedgehogs.) FF never did much either with the combat system given to Vanilla in XIII. It was goofy to a lot of people, which is why I liked it. It was different. It's a major reason why Vanilla became one of my all time favorites, and I haven't even test played it thus far. I want more firsts like that.

There were also classes in the FF series none of us have ever played. I'd like the see the game where it is rehashed, and one of your guys gets to become an Arc Knight or Holy Lancer (past hoax by someone) remade. I would also like to see a main character who is finally a beast character. The closest so far (not MORG) was Fran optioned for XII and maybe Zidane. Another that comes to mind would be the short and armored guys in FFCC (GameCube). They were cool. No one could touch them on melee, but they were only character options. I want to see new main characters as beasts. Vincent in DoC was the best one done, depending on how you would view him.

I'll probably come up with more later.

In part, yes. I'd also like people to interact better rather than just being pointless figures you can't talk to within a village of robots.

Yeah but I would have also liked it if you cold hook up if you were nice to her and/or break up if you weren't. Things like that add realtexture to romance plots and not many games have that depth. Plus, I think if you spent your time dating said female/ male characters some of the time you should be spending saving teh world would be used up. Could this have an impact on what happens later? I freaking hope so. I mean I spent countless hours in the FF7 theme park just messing around. Then I went on a date with Barret... Stuff like that should have an impact. Unless, of course, Sephiroth was just so polite that he waited it out for me to finish. Awefully nice of the chap.
I know this idea is a little hard to achieve because people would get annoyed at not havig freedom. Surely they could introduce a 'hard mode' or 'real mode' where it was integrated?

"Choices in the game that affect how people see you", that one I'm not following very well. Could you elaborate some for me please?-

Secondary character says- "Lets go to this city first, they seem like their people need us most"

Main character replies-

Answer A- "Screw that, all the best women are in the other direction, let's go there!"
Answer B- "Yeah, it would be best that we hurried and saved as many people as we can!"
Answer C- "OR, we could go there BUT get ice cream on the way!?"

*A vast amount, small amount, or none of the afformentioned citys people die as a result of the choice I made*

I say this because I often just decide to do side-quests that have no bearing on the main plot but still link in. I'd liek to think that the fact I saved a village may reflect on how people view me within the game. I hte it when they just return to the mindless beehive they once were.
A beautiful example is that of the hunting quests in FFXII. After killing a MASSIVE T-Rex I returned to teh village and nobody even knew it was gone. It was hard to kill and would have eaten half the world in a week in real life. I dont even get a pack on the back for killing a huge beast living on their doorstep? That, in my oppinion is B/S.

Again, hard to do, but something I'd like to see in any game not just FF.

lol I looked at it three times and still didn't catch that I spelled it wrong. I'm sorry Hyz. Those are great ideas though. I agree about the romantic one. They shaped the storyline toward Squall and Rinoa getting together in 8 and then didn't take it anywhere. Now that we have upgraded the systems, they should do more with the storylines and interactions.

It would be more interesting and welcoming to see more of a game VI (virtual intelligence), which is where I saw that coming. I loved the card games throughout, and I would like to also see something more new with it. Now that I think more on it, I've seen slots, cards, and the saucer games of FFVII. I'd like to see a first where they come up with a full-on casino. It would be great to see a full-on casino in FFXIV. You should even win Guildleves. Imagine that.

As far as the combat styles, I was getting at new combat themes or plays itself. Swinging a fishing pole and line, like a whip weapon in FFXIV as if a Quistis (FFVIII) clone, would be amazing *,*.

Another first would be running a business like the one the Don did during the FFVII series would be a nice change. That reminds me. I would love to see Final Fantasy and Fallout 3 collide. Oooh. Even Vincent would be like *,*. There you go: Kyreaan's Final Fantasy XVI idea. You could also finally have a full actually done chapter taking place in The Promised Land.

Main character choices would also be a nice change, but I'm not talking about how FFXII or Dissidia was done. I mean choosing the mode and type of character, really modeling the character before playing it. It would also involve a combat type choice you pick in the beginning, unlike FFT. For an example, different characters for a new game are set in their own fight and magic styles. I open a new game, and I get to choose what I'm playing. I then model a bunny character, who looks like Fran (FFXII), and I want my main character to use pole weapons and polearms. Main characters, for the point I'm making, need to fight in more new ways and perhaps have more features. Someone like Vanilla needs to get her own game: Kyreaan's Final Fantasy XIII-3 idea. Why not?

Anyone want to see a deep undercover mission taken on by the team or have a team member, even the leader, fully turn on the team? I haven't played all the FFs so I have no idea if that's even been done yet. Oh, and what about the items and such. Do you want to see them actually drinking the potion or injecting themselves with Antidotes, etc?

May cause MA rating for 'drug use' etc. It might not be worth the realism from a marketing point of view. Although I think it would be pretty cool. Imagine how many track marks the characters would have end game? especially if theyre marlboro farming with no protective gear. oh ma lord.

lol good point, they'd look like they got mugged if they went into a Malboro fight, got gases and had almost every statue in the book on them. I liked what they did in Dead Fantasy, where Yuna hands Tifa a potion and a ether, both in bottles in liquid form. And I like the antidote giving to Dagger in FF9 when they took her from the Evil Forest. There has to be someway to alter it enough to make it real-er but not give rise to a drug epidemic.

I dont think potions would be considered drug use as opposed to syringes, its all to do with how graphic it is. Potions considered medicinal, anything to do with syringes would seem give it a 'drug' reference even if it was purely for medicinal purposes. I think they could definitly drink more potions. But then theres the question, how much can they drink until they are full? i mean, what if you get poison 10 times in one battle?

Well, the typical FF rule for once your poisoned is that, unless you change it, you stay poisoned until death or antidote but I see what you mean. Lol maybe we could take a star trek approach, they never got in trouble for their injecting thingee.

I had someone ask me this so i figured I would post it on here. Someone asked me if I would like to see more deaths in Final Fantasy. Not because either one of us is in to that sort of thing, but because each Final Fantasy seems to be a war of sorts and the more intense the wars, the more intense the casualities. So I ask, what do you think?

A new item list for a FF would be nice; I agree. New characters could use items similar to Fallout games. How about that needle and IV pack to get rid of the status ailments? I would also like to see characters having appearance changes after changing equipment. You know- opposed to invisible equipment.

I also remember a robot character in Chrono Trigger, unless I'm thinking of something else right now. Where's my FF upgradeable robot? Cait Sith doesn't count. I would like to see a FF where you are the bad guys who are trying to actually cause...the Final Fantasy! Where's that one?! Am I going to have to wait for the final Final Fantasy? Kyreaan's Final Fantasy XVII (PSP 7000) idea.

I'd love to see a Final Fantasy where you could play many sides of the main story:

1) As the villain
2) As the main party
3) As a sort of NPC-type character, but you eventually get caught up in the storyline and impact of the game.

Also, like in Fable, i'd love to see a morality meter (per se). Like not so much a meter but more, like someone said earlier, choices that you can make that can change the outcome of the story.


I'd like to point out that all of this ^^^^ would be just as a one-off Final Fantasy game, I think it would ruin the series if it was introduced into every upcoming title.

Also, a great first would be the possibility of having more than 99 of each item.

Many gamers probably wouldn't see the need for this, but in some Final Fantasy games (XIII for instance) having the ability to have more than 99 of an item would be helpful, for farming purposes, and for some of the rather massively difficult boss fights.

I know it would be harsh but I would love to see the lead character actually jump sides about half way through the game for some noble or unseen reason. I think, not only would it up the difficulty but it would grab you at the heartstrings too which seems to make for a great Final Fantasy.

I would love to have one that is very sensitive to choices you make in the game,... which result in gaining many different freinds/enemys, going to different places in the world depending on how YOU play the game... wheather it be choices of things to say, or routes to take,... and maybe have about 3 or 4 different endings... That would make for a very usable and in depth game, instead of a staight up journey with barely any other activity than the main linear plot. ..(I think XIII was like that but I still thought the game was incredible) ..... But thats what I think

Kind of like a chose your own story book, I like it. That way you could play the game five times and have five different storylines every time. I wonder if the software could keep you though. Would anyone object to have mutliple PS2 or PS3 discs like we used to on the PS1?

I totally agree with that statement. When I was 7 and first started playing FF, the multiple discs were awesome. It made the game seem like it lasted forever, and when you were totally on edge all the time thinking "oooh I wonder when I'll get to the next disc."

I loved the cliffhangers when it came to multiple discs. As soon as something big happened it was time to change discs and by that point there was no way you could possibly stop because you HAD to see what happened next. Wow, multiple discs with a PS3 would allow for so many more possiblities than just one disc, not only on storyline but graphics, sidequests, and character interaction too. Is there such a thing as too long a storyline in FF?

Maybe because with multiple discs on xbox or ps3 would allow for an absolutely huge game, square would prefere to make smaller one disc games and then make sequels after, probly be financially better.
Imagine the possiblities of multiple discs on future ff games,

^ so yea i agree, and I don't really think there can be too long a storyline in a ff.... I thought 7 was very long, (especially the 1st playthrough) but that made it even more epic..

Agreed. The lack of hygiene in Final Fantasy games is atrocious!

I'd like to see how they train, like you know how everyone is trained to fight in battle, they can't just do it randomly, they have to train on the side, I'd like to see what they do and how cool they look doing it, that's just me though.

Haha, I second that. All those sweaty random battles have gotta take their toll... pwheeew. An occasional change of clothes wouldn't go amiss either.
