Final fantasy characters that you are in love with

So are any of you guys in love with any of the final fantasy characters? Well there is only one character that I am truly in love with and that is Sephiroth. I love him because he is sooo hot. I fell in love with him from the first moment I saw in the FMV's of ffvii. To this day I still can't stop thinking about him Someday he is going to be mai waifu . So anyway any of you have final fantasy crushes?

I love characters like Snow, Lightning Fang, Refia, Luneth, Zidane and Red XIII. When I say love I mean that I connected with them on a personal level and enjoyed their story lines.
Vanille: "Wishes can come true, but not if you just wait for miracles. Miracles are things we make for ourselves, here and now"
Lightning: "It's not a question of can or can't. There are some things in life you just do"

Cloud of Darkness: "We are the Cloud of Darkness...None shall stand before the flood of darkness. With it, we will bring the Void to this world, and your world of light as well..."
Luneth: "We won't let you! Not if we have anything to say about it!"

Cloud: "And if you don't tell us...I'll chop them off"
    Aerith: "...I'll rip them off"
    Tifa: "I'll smash them"

…Well..put it this way..when people ask me what my ‘type’ is for men, I simply answer, Sephiroth. Everything about His character, His power, His presence, strength, intellect, composure, grace and absolute demand for authority makes my ovaries explode like New Years. Sephiroth is pure and simple, a badass of the highest order because his beautifully androgynous face is offset by his powerful body, deeply rich male voice (for me thats Toshiyuki Morikawa's) and ungodly strength. To me, Sephiroth & Vincent Valentine are both the epitome of The Perfect Man. Not skirt-chasing, hormone-driven, all-brawn & no-brain, weak-as-piss, loudmouth, overcompensating, slimy perverts that (over)fill this world (I like nerds myself). If I were to hone in on visual appeal, my usual type is tall, dark & androgynously handsome, thats where the beautiful, brooding Vincent Valentine comes in, but against Sephiroth all-in-all, He comes in at an EXTREMELY CLOSE second for the very same (above) reasons as well as posessing every other quality I adore in a Man i.e. quiet, mysterious, calm, stoic, philosophical, attentive, reticent, nihilistic but a romantic too all through his poetic manner of speaking. I love wondering about the details of the kind of story that lay behind such enigmatic personas..It works in my favour as well that they both have massive cocks...

When I was a youngster, I had crushes on Squall and Seifer (understandable), and, randomly, Cid Highwind from Final Fantasy VII, God knows why.

Nowadays I like Altaďr and Ezio. Not Final Fantasy I know but... sooo hot! I guess my taste in fictional characters has refined over the years.

I've been a sucker for women with black hair. Ever since I was 12 I've had a crush on Princess Garnet. But recently, I've been playing FFVIII and I just wanna say I love everything about Selphie. Smart yet hyperactive, and very optimistic. Nobody comes close to her on the latter, imo.
Please read the poetry from two great friends of mine. May they find peace.

Your analysis was very descriptive and informative. Although you tend to ignore the fault of sephiroth, if anything, its the ultimate fault that would have me questioning your judge of character. Sephiroth suffers from a extremely aggressive form of oedipus complex. Some of the characteristics you mentioned are common in that of people who are suffering from such a state of mind. Sephiroth was born into solitary, which is why when he found out who his mother was at such a late age, he was not able to cope and his oedipus complex began. It is such a violent form, that he actually killed anyone with jenova cells inside them just so he could be the 'only child'. this is evident in reference to his followers in black cloaks with tattoos and cloud himself. There are no women in his life because he just wants to be with his mum... Both mentally as one concious and sexually.

When I was first playing FF games like 12 or so years ago I really liked Garnet and Rinoa, Tifa for them tittays.

Then later on, I played some FFIV and was following Edge's route and digging Rydia. Even TFF's Rydia is sexy.

I don't know... that long sword of his, he's obviously compensating for something =P

and please, do not call him intelligent as he's not, that's just insulting to genuine villains, you know the ones that don't fall for the same trick three times in a row... come to think of it, he's a lot like Dr Evil.

Idk if he's stupid, he's just batshit crazy. But, who wouldn't be with all the shit that went down. What Xanatos said about Sephiroth's sword. Cloud and Zack are guilty of compensation as well >_>

I still have the hots for Vincent Valentine. I think he's cute. He's the mysterious scientist-detective type who's driven by revenge for the woman he loved. If anything, Vincent is far more intelligent than Sephiroth... at least he knows the difference between right and wrong, even though he overcompensates when he believes he's done wrong. But yeah... can't say I'm attracted to that murderous, wanting-to-destroy-the-world-for-his-mother, mummy's boy, sociopath kid called Sephiroth. He's frightening. The kind of person you ask your kids not to except candy from.

I'm also very attracted to Basch. Oh my. Sexy isn't even the word. Also, they picked the right voice actor for him too, which I think just enhances his sexiness. He's also a fiercely loyal character. He reminds me a little of Heath Ledger, who I was in love with too.

    Can't say I've ever been attracted to a female Final Fantasy character. Maybe Lulu. ^^;

In other games, can't really say no to Alistair from Dragon Age, Solid Snake/David (or his dad... yep) from Metal Gear Solid and Chloe from Uncharted 2 and 3. x3

Love is a bit strong word for me, although yes, as silly as it sounds bunch of pixels and polygons can be indeed attractive. Quistis is by far the most attractive girl in franchise (there's something about hot blonde with whip and glasses), closely followed by Lulu and Fran. As far as video games in general go, add Anna Williams (Tekken) and Carla Valenti(Fahrenheit) to my list.

Respect should be given to those who have cared for you. Hypothetically, how could one respect the one who gave them life it it was a result of rape? Respect needs to be earned.

Oh no, thats not compensating.. thats advertisement unff.

Now now, the creators needed to come up with something to keep bringing back such an iconic character/villain to feed the masses. I just love how Cloud pulls a powerful attack outta his ass at the last minute every time but its better this way. Itd be boring if the villain were to pull off the usual world domination/destruction and thats that. If I compare the two most popular villains in FF, Kefka & Sephiroth, in terms of strength, Sephiroth wins. Purpose? Sephiroth wins as he needed the world to fulfill a bigger purpose. To damage the planet enough to stir up the natural healing process (the lifestream) and merge his own energy with it so that he could essentially BECOME the planet and create new life as he saw fit (to me thats extremely intelligent and forward-thinking). Kefka simply just want it to burn. The best kind of villains are not necessarily the ones who acheive their ultimate goal in the end, but also how they go about it. The mindgames, to be on the brink of insanity is more sinister and much worse than death. We have yet to see Sephiroth's true power (confirmed by creators) but in any case, to me he loses gracefully each time and its like he doesnt even care. If you're judging villains purely based off of how much damaged they caused to the planet, Wouldn't that *SPOILER ALERT FOR XIII-2*
    SPOILER!!:
Make Caius Ballad the greatest villain of all time?

Of course, I judge villains based on what they add to the plot and tension, not based so much on how much damage they do but since this thread is asking for MY opinion, not my opinion on other people's opinion'sXD Sephiroth excels in every category and there must be SOME sort of villainous legitimacy in his actions if he is still in or topping 'Best Villains of All-Time' lists for a game released 15 years ago. That all said, I would not mind seeing Sephiroth make another epic comeback to get his sexy ass handed to him again. And again. And again. And again. And again.

Rowan?..WTF. Rape?!?! Seriously someone needs to go back and check their facts!

I LOVE Sephiroth. The embodiment of MASCULINITY & BADASSery cause fyi long hair is not exclusive to girls. Go figure.

I jump around that notion alot. But still thats quite debatable loving a woman who helped made Sephiroth (her own son) into what He is. Then locking yourself in a coffin for 30 years to atone for his 'sins' cause lying stationary for 30 years is gonna acheive so much. He mightve changed the course of events had he come out during Crisis Core it was worth a try. FFS He was in the adjacent room while Sephiroth was trying to find out more about His origins/birth, the precise time & place Vincent was present. Lmaoo. Vincent isnt destructive or ruthless but at least Sephiroth didnt lock himself away theres something to be said for a man who takes control.

Kefka actually annihilates half a planet while Sephiroth fails at doing the same with the help of meteor rather than his own power... ergo Sephiroth wins in terms of strength... WTF?

You're telling me Sephiroth has means to accomplish his goal, but chooses not to, instead he underestimates the same opponent three times... that's not just pretty lame excuse to eliminate your villain, but a good way to make him look like a complete and utter moron. Now he reminds me of Dr Evil even more.

Villains should be compared by their power, intelligence, though most importantly accomplishments, Sephiroth lacks two out of three. Kefka was bloody cunning, he knew his limitations, he grabed his chance and eventually managed to acomplish his goal, though it may be for a short notice, with quite a firework if I may say so. That's a lot more than Sephiroth ever managed to do.

Go figure.
Did I hear someone summoning me? Oh well, let's make this swift and painless.

In terms of the plan, Kefka's plan mutated. You could say that it was developed as it went. That isn't a bad thing; on the other hand, you may consider that such a plan was the result of him fulfilling his goals way too fast. For starters: when you first meet him, he's been reduced to little more than court jester, though his time as a general (according to the story notes revealed in the game guide before the Ultimania series came through) made him still an important asset. He gets soundly defeated during the second attack on Narshe, but not before doing his first act of genocide (Doma). You can see his plan unfurl at the moment he gets captured, with a pretty impressive plan involving duping Leo into taking Terra towards the Espers' hideout (finding the secret town of Magic-using descendants, Thamasa), then applying what he learned from the heroes: since he learned that, if he drew his powers from the [S]carcasses of Espers[/S] crystals of Magicite, he'd draw their full power, he decided he'd get all the Espers that ran away, annihilate them, then gather their Magicite and access their full power. When he realized that the Warring Triad/Statues were around, he agreed with Gestahl to gather them, and at the right moment, he simply backstabbed the Emperor and gained full power, destroying the World (or rather, delivering it a death blow) on its wake. The "monument to Nothingness", the utter nihilism he develops? What happens when you're, for all purposes, all-powerful and unopposed (not to mention worshipped) for two years, and you're utterly bored. Simply and easily said, he won, and he simply was ambitious for more. Good that the heroes stopped him, no? He could have stopped just by getting the power of the Warring Triad alone, but he just pushed forward. And, if you stop to think about it, you'll have to notice one thing: everyone in the world simply notices that, so as long as Kefka is around, the world is essentially dead. My memory might be pretty hazy, but I recall some children in Kohlingen attempting to grow flowers, to no avail, and only they keep that hope alive.

Compare to Sephiroth, where the party stopped him before his plan got executed, a plan that was doomed to failure right from the beginning. The extent of his damage is mostly limited to destroying Midgar and then Geostigma, but in both occasions Aerith beats him. Never mind being beaten by Cloud almost all times; the woman he killed foils him twice. When even your biggest claim (having killed a main character) soundly beats you...that doesn't make a very strong villain.

Mind games? Well, let's see...Sephy only makes Cloud angry, and AVALANCHE tags along because...well, they're Cloud's buddies and because the Planet is at risk (the latter more important than the former). Kefka plays mind games with General Leo (when he uses an illusion of Gestahl to dupe him), on Cyan (how else would a self-contained retainer, who vanquishes the Imperial soldiers with grace, essentially goes berserk?), Strago (where do you find him, again? On the Tower of Fanatics, as a worshipper of the cult of Kefka), and the entire party (the reunion with the Returners, while he was "imprisoned").

As for the "we haven't seen his full power yet"...isn't it already TOO late to act? He's been beaten five times (three by Cloud, two by Aerith/Aeris), so he should have already gone full power and finish them at once.

Also, Ultimecia > Caius. Yes. I've said it.

Oh, and regarding the topic: the question insults me and all I represent. Well, unless you're a newbie (in general, not picking on anyone), but then there's people in here who can vouch for the intense platonic love I profess for her. Oh, and as always: her hair is Green. Not Blonde. Whomever does that is sadly mistaken. Except Amano. Amano is always forgiven. I always say: the sprite artist was illuminated into revealing the true extent of her hair color into us mortals.

This thread asked which FF characters I love however trivial, is still a fun topic for me to answer. Take what you like, I'll simply list some of the reasons as to why I love Sephiroth. He doesnt have to be strongest villain out there but I still believe He is and the coolest.

@TG Oskar Ill be honest I havent played FFVI in a decade so everything you mentioned is a huge blur I cant add much. But in any case when compared to Kefka, personally I'll always lean towards Sephiroth, because I believe he has shown far greater abilities. Kefka is at his absolute peak in powers during the end of Final Fantasy VI while Sephiroth continues to only grow stronger. Im not denying Kefka's accomplishments but I believe the potential is always there for Sephiroth. Not to mention, Kefka once dead...is dead period...while Sephiroth can return and become even more powerful then previously before so Cloud and co get old while Sephiroth continues to grow stronger. Ive thought about that Aerith always being there to defend the planet maybe thats where the real fight lies but Im not concerned with all that Im just listing the reasons why He appeals to me so much.

Sephiroth is insane but when you think about what he's saying and trying to acheive, he comes off as being quite level-headed. I love his demeanour, He does everything with a air of control and calmness. He shows several times how insignificant everyone is to him in power and perceived intelligence/logic. Each time his appearances if nothing but brief, were awesome and memorable and a specific one veeerry memorable in the gaming world. I thought it a great story with Cloud where he pretended he was insignificant, used him, then was defeated by him and such. His smug attitude and persistence endears me to Him.

Kefka is a tremendously powerful mage, but his aptitude for hand-to-hand combat is low whereas Sephiroth is a powerful and fast swordsman, and he can wield magic as well. Also He was able to erect a magical barrier that was capable of blocking a blast from the Sister Ray canon that tore a hole right through one of the created defenders of the planet, one of the WEAPONs, Sapphire.

Sephiroth has an extremely strong will it seems to me an indestructible one. He can control JENOVA cells and also use them to regenerate and reunite. He can absorb life energy, will power and knowledge, everything which is the source of the true power in Final Fantasy VII and since he resists the lifestream he became so strong that he doesn't need Materia for magic if the knowledge of how to use it is within the lifestream. He can create illusions which look and feel as if they were real and since he has the strongest and most powerful will of all he can easily fool everyone. He has the ability to shapeshift, he has psychic abilities like levitating/flying, telekineses and telepathy and reading minds and memories, he can teleport, he can go through matter, etc. He is the strongest being to me, no wonder with the strongest will which can get stronger limitless and he is the strongest swordsman and the only one who can wield the 6ft Masamune.

In the end Sephiroth is defeated by Cloud multiple times, but his consciousness travels the Lifestream, waiting for a chance for yet another Reunion so He's still alive and kicking.

You're telling me Sephiroth has means to accomplish his goal, but chooses not to, instead he underestimates the same opponent three times... that's not just pretty lame excuse to eliminate your villain, but a good way to make him look like a complete and utter moron.
Yes! I can understand why people think hes a "moron" just for that but the way I see it is that if He is that smug/confident/arrogant/foolish in thinking he doesnt need to use the full extent of His powers personally it makes Him all the more intriguing to me not only as a villain but also as a character. It makes me wonder what else he might have in store. Even after appearing in so many titles, Sephiroth's true strength is still unknown. I love that the creators stuck to that. Hes an enigma.

The exact same things can be said for most villains that have been created.."cunning" "eventually managed to accomplish his goal" save for maybe limitations. I love how a mere fictional character manages to stay in my mind for so long, Ive played alot of games but no one comes close to the villain/character that is Sephiroth. Kefka grabbed what window of opportunity he had and took it. Good for him but I didnt care for Him and wasnt NOWHERE as driven to kill him as much as I wanted to with Sephiroth. My god he pissed me off first playthrough I wanted to wipe that sexy smirk off his stupid, gorgeous face. Again, I love the fact that Sephiroth's true power lies in unknown waters, makes him all the more mysterious, powerful and unpredictable which is more appealing to me as opposed to destroying everything as well as frightening cause Im not sure what to expect. I love that style & mystique about him its how I think He stands out from every other villain along with His visual appeal, its quite ethereal. And finally, He also has his own, not one, not two but three of the most epic theme songs for any kind of villain.

Your joking about Nobutoshi Canna voicing Cloud right?! Im glad Nomura and I are agree on the choice of japanese seiyuus..MAYBE hed be suitable voicing the less emo, "Lets Mosey!" Cloud in the FFVII remake. I always thought Joji Nakata was a suitable voice actor for Sephiroth but they ended up giving him to Weiss the Immaculate His voice literally makes me shiver not in the good way.

Take it up with me on my profile. Im getting bored with this back and forth banter. Ive made my point. I love Sephiroth. You think Kefka's better. I dont. It wont change. Leave it at that.

Again, Kefka knew his limitations, he was smart enough to cover his weak point while Sephiroth with all his power, being almost invincible, got his ass kicked more times, than I care to remember. As for his will being immortal, it is in fact in constant struggle not to be consumed by lifestream, he also needs a new body to pop out once again, it took him more than two years to create imperfect bodies, imagine how much time it would take to make one with Jenova cells. By that time Cloud just might die of old age, an actual meteor may hit Gaia...

Kuja is as narcissistic as it gets, though smart enough for such trait to get in his way more than it should. I prefer villains who do their thing rather than wondering what one might or might not do.

Strange, Kefka did more shit to hate him for than Sephiroth ever did through several medias. That's the thing, you may like him for his personality and appearance (in the end this thread is all about that so I apologize if I went overboard), that may make him a good character in ones eyes but nowhere near a good villain.

Lets say Sephiroth and Kefka fight.

Sephiroth will hold back like he always does, he will then die by the hands of Kefka. Everyone will say Sephiroth is still stronger. If he was stronger, he would have killed him. I'm tired of every villain being cliche with all the toying and stuff and then lose because of it. You want to know what is more evil? Using you power to it's fullest every time you have the chance to use it. Sephiroth is not evil.

Final Fantasy VII should have had a Necron boss instead of FFIX. That would have made Sephiroth look more evil.

For starters: underestimating a person once, when he's at its weakest? That's understandable. Cloud really had a lucky shot there.

Underestimating a person twice is worrisome. I can understand it as well, because he thought he had crushed Cloud's will, which was already fragile from essentially "absorbing" (or rather, forming a psychological barrier from) Zack's memories, until Tifa did "deep psychotherapy" and restored Cloud's ego. He became overconfident, and lost, at the peak of his power. All villains (even Kefka!) suffer from this problem.

Underestimating a person thrice!? That's folly. Face it: Kadaj was there to pave way for Sephy's cameo, because he could have used his full power right then and there, instead of obsessing about beating Cloud alone.

Second: Kefka wasn't a warrior, sure. He was a fine darn strategist, though, because he's a commander (or rather, was). The whole reason he wasn't dropped from the Army after the experiment is because he was praised as a strategist. In fact, were it not for his descent into madness, he would have been the Empire's governor, above all save Gestahl. Even then, he's pretty skilled with a flail (when he fights against Sabin and then during the attack at Narshe, he uses a flail in combat alongside his "innate" spellcasting ability).

Third: consider all the things you've just mentioned. He's born from the cells of a monster, has master swordsmanship, master control over magic, psionics, teleportation, shapeshifting...were it not because he's canon, I'd cry "Marty Stu!!!" out loud. But then Nomura has to insist he's the strongest being in FFVII, which by all means implies he IS creating a deliberate Marty Stu (or Gary Stu, if you prefer the term). Not only that, the sword he has, and his background, and his form...all are aspects of Mary-Sueism.

However, and if I may be bold to mention it...what about the Aerith/Aeris factor? Aerith IS also in the Lifestream, and she has shown the ability to petition the Lifestream to act, and the Lifestream responded. Twice. Talk if you may, but Sephy's rule over the Lifestream IS threatened, and against someone who's potential is essentially indetermined.

The exact same things can be said for most villains that have been created.."cunning" "eventually managed to accomplish his goal" save for maybe limitations. I love how a mere fictional character manages to stay in my mind for so long, Ive played alot of games but no one comes close to the villain/character that is Sephiroth. I find it quite the opposite. Romeo Guildenstern has driven me to righteous anger. I loathe Kefka for what he did to Doma, cackling with glee. I'll make Loghain Mac Tir a Grey Warden in sinister vengeance for what he pulled at Ostagar. And I can't wait until I find the fourth disk of Lost Odyssey so I can deliver the mother of all beatings to Gongaga. These people swell me with righteous anger. Sephy? I find I can even sympathize with his plea, if it weren't because his plea is bland, with inclusions of "counter-fandom" and "cannot stomach a Canon Stu" peppered within.

As for theme songs...One Winged Angel makes my stomach revolt (and I've had to block the song twice when I've gone to video game concerts), in comparison to the complexity and breadth of tunes from Dancing Mad. I've yet to find a more complex theme than Dancing Mad, at least in videogames (telling it's more complex than classical pieces is ignorant at best), and I've heard LOTS of final boss theme songs. Kefka's leitmotif is particularly sinister, mixing a joyful tone with creepiness. So "epicness" isn't something I'd associate with Sephy's music. More like "overrated".

EDIT: Disagree! Toshiyuki Morikawa and Takahiro Sakurai suit their respective character's to a T. I dont know who Griffith/Femto are Im afraid. Your joking about Nobutoshi Canna voicing Cloud right?! Im glad Nomura and I are agree on the choice of japanese seiyuus..MAYBE hed be suitable voicing the less emo, "Lets Mosey!" It's a shame you have heard so little of Nobutoshi Canna.

In fact, it's a shame that you haven't heard of Berserk. The reason I mention it is manifold:
    1. Cloud is based off Guts from Berserk, or at least his design (if not his attitude). Same for Sephiroth and Griffith, to an extent.
    2. Sadly, you lost the irony in the statement. Toshiyuki Morikawa voiced Griffith. Nobutoshi Canna voiced Guts. Find about Guts, because that's a pretty violent and brutal character (think what would happen if Cloud got testosterone poisoning). No, Canna isn't only known for Basara (LISTEN TO MY SOOOOOOOONG!!!) Nekki and Ban.
    3. The second bit of irony is that, in terms of seiyuus, Nobutoshi Canna and Toshiyuki Morikawa often play rivals (Guts vs. Griffith, Kyosuke Nanbu vs. Axel Almer)

Take it up with me on my profile. Im getting bored with this back and forth banter. Ive made my point. I love Sephiroth. You think Kefka's better. I dont. It wont change. Leave it at that.
I'd love to, but were it not because of this, I wouldn't have been summoned from my self-imposed retirement from the forum. Yet, it takes one to bow from the discussion for it to end. It's sad that it has to be this way.

I have to agree about one winged angel and dancing mad. one winged angel is just a generic chorus piece, dancing mad is the magnum opus of the final fantasy series. I don't really feel like going into the musical theory aspects, but damn...

It seems pretty obvious Sephiroth wasn't holding back in both final battles, at least imo. I mean, just because the creator of a story says something AFTER it's been created doesn't make it so. That's what tends to kill a lot of series, people holding "word of god" to the absolute truth.
