It sucks, what a shocker. Thanks Square for releasing this instead of Versus.
Coming to the iOS platforms, Square Enix's newest game for the mobile FF series is called Final Fantasy: All the Bravest. If abbreviated it comes out to FF:ATB, ATB being important as it is the name often used for the early FF game combat systems. The new game seems to take things a step further while making use of sprite and old school style 16-bit graphics.
As seen in the video party size is large and battles frantic. There a lot of different jobs available in the game allowing you to tackle monsters and bosses with classic FF jobs along with even characters from FF games.

Can't believe they'd release something this....have no words for it. I think slot machines give you more control of the game than this mess. Squeenix, what did you smoke when you made this?
Is it wrong that I actually like how this looks? it actually does pay homage to the FF series traversing through different FF worlds (which I was actually looking for in a FF homage) and it has a unique gameplay style where you have several party members bombarding the enemy which looks really amusing to watch in action. I'd say this is a fair game, it definitely would get the job done for mobile phone owners. Don't get me wrong, I don't think this is the best game ever or anything but, you gotta admit, it does have plenty of originality.
This and Dimensions are both pluses in my book.

I love sprite based games and Dimensions was actually a lot of fun. What a shame that ATB turned out how it did. I've been reading reviews and videos online and in regard to the battles, essentially all there is to this game, they all say they can be won by scribbling your finger across your fighters, which takes all the strategy out of the game. 40 fighters with basically the same actions all seem a bit pointless too. Plus they die after taking a single hit and you have the option of paying real money for a 'free' revive. So yeah I'm disappointed with this one, I've quite enjoyed Square's other IOS titles.

Basically, it's like watching slot machines spinning wheels at random. No strategy, tactics or any control. Yeah, it's cool to see all the chars from all FF's, but it's not cool to not be able to control them in any way, other than scribbling your finger like a spazzed degenerate.
hahahah I never thought that SE could make a game that is even simpler in gameplay than Mystic Quest, but turn it into a micro-transaction app lmao. The sad thing is, it looks cool and like Sabin says, it pays a lot of homage to the old games and will probably get its market off those people with their nostalgia glasses, but it pretty much raped our sacred series by making the game appeal to us on purpose so they could milk money out of it.
What a douche move by SE. The only reason I'm not on a forum rampage is because this is an app game. The second they do this kind of move to a real FF game and I'm throwing all my Square merchandise out my 2nd story window into the street and hopefully severely maim that stupid stray dog that will not shut the **** up. sad thing is, it is possible enough people will buy this and it will give SE an incentive to do stupid stuff like this in the future on real games

Well, at least Dimensions is a good game. SE might be big time douches now, but they're at least still doing some things right.
Wait wait wait. I bought this, and I actually like it. It's fun and very fast paced, and is a very good time waster on the way to work.
Sure, it lacks a lot of what you'd expect from a Final Fantasy game, but I don't try to view it as a standard Final Fantasy RPG, if you can even call it an RPG in the first place. There's not a whole lot of strategy to it; just tap and hope for the best (like slots, I suppose), but I think that's all it's supposed to be. A bit of fun.
Try not to take it too seriously. It probably took a week to make between a few decent programmers, and I'm Square Enix weren't hell bent on making it the greatest ever Final Fantasy game of all time (and on iOS at that). OMG, what a shocker.
Anybody who is mad that Versus isn't out doesn't realize that the game just got into full production. They've had XIII-2 and Lightning Returns in full production before Versus was, Versus is the last story in the XIII universe.
I'll play this game, I'll play it hard.

This game has a "hefty" price to it next to countless dirt cheap, even free, yet a lot more quality games on iOS. I highly doubt it even took a week to make this seeing as all the sprites have been reused from other games in the series, it's a piece of shit and poor attempt to grab some money no matter how you look at it.

The money part, I agree is a douchebag move. I wouldn't pay £35 for a full iOS game. But really, aside from all the DLC costing a fortune for what you actually get, the game isn't as big a disaster as the world is making it out to be. It certainly isn't my favourite game that I have on my iTouch, but there's worse. The game itself isn't a bad idea, I just think the way they've brought it out is a little offensive to Final Fantasy fans.
It being extortionate doesn't make the game idea a piece of shit.
According to the statements its been in full production for a year and a half. With gameplay demo's popping up around another half of a year before that. Plus the core development team working on it for the 7 years its been in development.
Even with a team of 6 people for 5 in a half years plus full production for the rest it should be close to being done.
Being in development isn't the same as full production. Shit you know how long Duke Nukem Forever was in Development? We wont be seeing it more maybe another year or two. Square-Enix themselves said they wanted to release a new title every year, now it looks like more then 1 every year.

There is key difference between Duke Nukem Forever and Versus XIII. Versus XIII wasn't/isn't in development hell. It doesn't have financial issues, no notable people just abandoning half way through the project, nothing. Its just being developed by core team members. Even if it wasn't in full production a team of 6 people got it to the point where they could show gameplay demos. You know what the trailer for Duke Nukem was after 11 years. Him lifting weights. Not exactly gameplay material.
3D realms lost its development team for Nukem Forever. It literally just sat untouched, then was picked up by Gearbox a year later and released a year after that.
Versus has had 6 people working on a single console, same team, and no stops.
I'm going to say it again. In Development is not Full Production.
Now to stay on topic.
I don't know why I think this but I get the feeling this game will get more old school fans who don't really play FF games as often anymore. Older crowd.

I hope you're right, but most likely the game will be as it was presented. But then Squeenix isn't dumb as well and they read the reviews, so maybe they'll make it better.
What in the **** is this?? its an app to get seizures?
I wonder if someone could make a game like this, but as a FF6 mod and with way more control over character's actions. You could assign a set number of tactics to each character and they'd behave, depending on the situation. You'd just need a group of thieves to keep replenishing inventory for your party to auto use. or else they could run out of items and die. Or maybe scratch that last idea.
