    Favourite Job

What are people's favourite job in FF? I know there's tons, and some characters have unique skills without having a specific named job/class, but do peeps have a favourite?

Mine is a dead heat between the Mime and the Rune Knight. I love all the 'magic knight' type jobs but Rune Knight is definitely my fav, love the Runic ability and the esoteric nature & slight mental-instability element of the class, plus Celes gets to use my favourite weapon: Save the Queen!

And the Mime - well, not much to say except that Gogo kicks ass and
    X-Magic + Ultima + Mimic = easy-as-pie Kefka fight!

Mine is, of course, the Red Mage and shall forever be. A funny story: I used to love the Black Belt above all other jobs on FFI for the longest time. It wasn't until I was a member here and read the 8-Bit Theater that I became the Red Mage fan that I am today.

The high point of Red Mage-ness is, of course, FFXI. They hold so much power it isn't funny.

I used to love Dragoons a lot, too. I'd say they would probably be my second favorite. Kain is such an epic badass.
OLD SKOOL - A positive appellation referring to when things weren't flashy but empty of substance, were done by hard work, didn't pander to the lowest common denominator, and required real skill. Labour-saving devices, shortcuts that reduce quality and quitting before the task is done are not characteristics of "old skool."

In reference to computer games, refers to a game that had substantial playability without flashy graphics or eye candy. Old skool gamers appreciate difficult maneuvers, careful planning, and scorched earth policies.

In reference to role-playing games, old skool refers to games that tested players' wits, could kill off careless characters, and required dedication and inner strength to play. Old skool games didn't pander to the ideas that everyone is created equal, that all options are open to all races, that the markets were somehow free, and that a quasi-medieval society could have near 100% literacy.

    Favorite job? BLOW job.

Just kidding. My favorite job in Final Fantasy I is the good old Knight job class. Powerful offensively and defensively and a pretty cool look I might add.

EDIT: I just realized this was in GENERAL Final Fantasy, so it's not strictly limited to FFI...

I always have liked the Dark Knight job class. Just like a regular knight, only with a touch of darkness and mysteriousness added to them. I kind of hated seeing Cecil turn into a paladin.

I've always been a fan of the black mage, fan of it in all of the FF's specifically FF9 with Vivi, but also Dragoons are really cool being able to jump up into the air, Kain although being a weak minded fool, was still pretty good and was an asset on the team. Though overall, Black Mage FTW!

Ninjas by far. In Final Fantasy V they were the only class that could dual-wield which made em even more kick ass & at that the whole crew (Lenna, Bartz, Faris, Krile, and yes A Man amongst Men GALUF!!!) had their own look of em. At low levels, Fuma Shurikens hit so hard and all of their job skills they learned were very useful.

In Final Fantasy III, they just made your team look so bad ass (I only roll with one though, I like having optimism in my team. I prefer to give myself a challenge when I play Final Fantasy instead of troll facing/steam rolling all my enemies) and hit very hard in the front rank than throwing from the rear like a puss despite what I read & seen in FAQS. If you play FF III toward the ending part of the story and don't have a ninja in your party you sir/mam are sick in the head & making your self miss out on one of your characters unleashing first striking & shuriken tossing pawnage.

    Geomancer/Elementalist

This class shows what happens when magic meets the natural. It provides useful abilities as well as more freedom. Mog's abilities can be random, but in FFT, the abilities provide very useful status changes that turned many battles for me.
