Dissidia Final Fantasy Announced for Arcades

The PSP fighting game that brings all of the Final Fantasy characters together to fight is now coming to the arcades. Square Enix revealed today a new game in the Dissidia series coverings all of the Final Fantasy through to XIV. It will feature 3v3 team combat. One of the new characters seen in the trailer was Y'shtola from Final Fantasy XIV. As with past games, there will likely be a villain from XIV as well. There is no information if it will be coming to consoles or handhelds at some point.

Actually I can see them not making a villain for FFXIV and using another FF game villain, sort of how Dissidia one was with FF11 and FF12 but never know.

Actually I wouldn't be surprised if they threw Caius in the new game and not have an FF14 villain. No FF13 villain from the 2nd Dissidia.

I think Nero and Nael are popular enough to be selected as villains. Both have a lot of attention in the story and are pretty central figures for evil plans, though there is also the other one that I'm forgetting his name at the moment, the White Wolf I think was his other name he was known by. They have the look of the Judges from FFXII, so they have a good visual factor working in their favor. It's a little surprising that there was none from FFXI, but there were a lot of different threats and stories, so picking one might have been difficult.

You are right though they could do Varis as I feel Gaius is too close to a Judge from FF12

It definitely looks nice seeing Dissidia on a modern engine. I always thought dissidia felt arcade-like so seeing it is actually becoming an arcade game title shows that it does fit as a arcade. If it were to be ported, I definitely don't think the current handhelds could handle the engine it runs on, sound more like a possible PS4 and Xbox One release if such a port was planned.
