Buster sword or Gun blade?

Which one would you prefer, Buster sword or Gun blade?

Personally, I would chose the Gun blade.

I love the Buster Sword, but it lost to the Gunblade as soon as I saw it in real life, in one of those sword stores, this was a legit looking one too. Asians owned that particular shop so I knew it was serious business. It was crazy looking, it had bullets, the case and all.

I don't have a problem with a Gunblade, but I picked the Buster Sword because it has a history and a story with it, which makes it interesting to me.

If the Masamune was a choice, I would have picked that one.

I picked the Buster Sword. Mainly cause your gunblade can't do shit if I am wielding a massive sword. I will smash your puny gunblade byacth.....

no dude ! The Gunblade is a heavy **** ! thats why Squall is holding him with both arms, Seifers wpn is light.

IDK which 1 I would choose, Buster Sword is like...or just looks heavy and the Gunblade remindes me of a chainsaw..dont ask why..
why not make a mix of it? a BusterBlade !

I'd go gunblade. In reality, the buster sword is probably like 7 feet long and weights upwards to 100+ lbs. I'm pretty strong but it's not something that I'd like to be carrying into battle. If I can hit someone solidly, they'd be done, but if I miss, there's a huge window for them to kick my ass while I'm pulling the sword out of the ground.

The gunblade is lighter and looks easier to control. It might still be kind of heavy, but nowhere near as bad as Cloud's sword. Plus you'd be able to swing it more and take out more people.

Actually the Buster Sword would be able to take out more people then the Gunblade in one sweep. I mean, with how I like weapons, the Buster Sword would be just for me. But shit is heavy, I prefer long range and light weight. The Gunblade is cool, I mean non of them have good handles, they are to short for me. Squall's Gunblade is heavier with a basic handle, Seifer's is lighter with a different handle. But I would choose Squall's. But can't choose which one over Buster or Gun. Easier to just mix them together.

I'll go with the Gunblade... I find it's the better weapon but if I had the choice, I'd go for Daggers, Boomerangs, Staffs or Spears. But a gun on a sword is awesome too, even if Squall doesn't use it at far range.

It's appeared in nearly every title in the franchise, making it a sort of icon, or staple or whatever, sort of like chocobos and moogles. It also has the honor of being named after a really great swordmaker: Masamune

Through a bit of a read-through, I found this:

That's pretty awesome.

EDIT:: I guess I'll also say something about it's overall design. It's a katana in most games, which gives it the honor of being a pretty light weapon that you're able to actually swing around pretty quickly and get a lot of hits in. I usually go for speed over power, and comparing it to the Buster Sword or Gunblade, it would be the faster of the three.

i would use the buster sword personally... it fits my style more, nice sturdy weapon, one of those weapons where once you start, the blade's weight pretty much does the swinging for you... well, if nothing else, it sounds better in theory

The gunblade is still quite an impossible piece of weaponry. With its... gunness... swordness... gun-swordness... Whatever. At least that thing LOOKS wieldable, unlike the Buster Sword which was initially a battering ram. (Which it ends up being, anyway...)

I read somewhere that shooting a bullet causes the sword to vibrate causing more damage if used effectively. I'm thinking I got that from either the game itself, the strategy guide or possibly some of the Ultimania, translated.

wow people...did you even read what the characters have to say?!
Triggering a Gunblade (by pressing R1 if i remember right) makes the blade to...vibrate...yeah..weird...and it causes more damage.
Quistis tells you that in the tutorial at the beggining of the game

while yes the Buster Blade has a story behind it and was wielded by both Zack AND Angeal! it is also 2 tonnes of metal and how Angeal threw it(you hear this in a message in Crisis Core from the Sephiroth Fan club) is beyond me.

The Gunblade on the other hand is a beautiful and elegant attempt to merge modern fighting and its power with olden days fighting with its honor and yes it should also be heavy from the way Squall holds it any good sword should have some weight behind it and I don't think anything can top that except the obvious that is Masamune. I'm a Sephiroth fan boy deal with it

Neither, i heat up the gunblade at the point of the revolver and let it blow up using my Fire spell. and then toss the bustersword in a crate of salt then into the ocean where it sits at the bottom for all times.

Quarterstaff for me. (but actually its a buck and a quarter quarterstaff.)

Even if the purpose of the gun portion was to make the blade vibrate that is a horrible way of going about to do it. why not just attach a sonic occilator to the blade to make it do more damage. i mean you would think someone would have come up with it with such grand ideas as floating schools, jet packs, and anti magic fields.

Why?

Because the Buster Sword is friggin' stupid. Not that a "gun blade" isn't, but at least I could take the blade off and have a gun. If it's got a functional trigger mechanism, that'll be the most useful part of it. A modified gun blade versus a Buster Sword ... some hundred-pound nerd trying to even carry a giant slab of stainless steel, and me with a gun blade minus the blade. It'd be like Indiana Jones vs. the ninja -- except the ninja would be some fanboy with a sword that's too heavy to swing.

I wonder what type of round that would fire, though. 8mm Nambu?
