Which Adamantoise is your favorite? Mine is the one in II because it's the first one. I just got done fighting it too, here's pictures...

The Adamantoise (アダマンタイマイ Adamantaimai) is a recurring enemy in the Final Fantasy series. It usually appears as a large turtle with very high defense and strength, however with low magical defense. Their names are based on "adamantite," a metal that is often one of the game's strongest metals.

There should be an option for "all of the above" because...

I like turtles....

But since there's not, I say I like the ones in X, mainly for the fact that you can steal those lovely healing waters that heal the entire party. I must say that the sheer size of the ones in XIII are quite impressive, but I haven't run into any of them, so I can't say for sure how I really feel about those particular ones.

They're a pain in thirteen. I didn't think of having that as an option. I think the one in VI didn't even look like a turtle, don't you?

Besides what Dodie said about the Healing Waters, it also gives a generous amount of AP. And its huge. Not quite FFXIII huge, but getting there.

O man, the Adamantoise from Final Fantasy XIII look fricking huge, makes me wanna play that game even more. As for the one I like the most, definitely Adamantoise from Final Fantasy VIII.

Probably the most "useful" monster in the entire game, I always called it a "gold mine" as it frequently droops rare items such as Whisper, Orihalcon and Admantine which serve not just to create the ultimate weapons but also to get some neat ability's for GF's and to teach Quistis one of the best blue magic, the White Wind. They leave a fair amount of AP and EXP, and they carry useful magic such as Shell and Protect.

Not only is it ridiculously gigantic but it's pretty much the key to unlocking the ultimate weapons for all the characters whether it be by obtaining all the Platinum Ingots to sell and dismantle a fully upgraded weapon to get 3 Traphezodron's or to just get Traphezodron's directly from him which I've managed to obtain 7 from fighting them compared to 4 Ingots lol

Doing all of that is irritating. That's why I quit playing that game. Hey let's kill this giant monster over and over and over and (for me) it never dropped one. I've spent hours killing those, never got one. I ended up buying one.

I've been getting Traps like it's my job lol I'm like jeez enough of these things I need Ingots you stupid behemoth lol. But I guess I just got lucky several times.

Yea I have a Connoisseur Catalog on Lightning which helps for rare drops and a Survivor's Catalog on Hope so I'll be taking off the Connoisseur Catalog from Lightning as I move forward. They are both * which doesn't take that much XP at all, I think they only level up one level to be maxed out.

If it makes you feel any better, Jon, I've taken down about 20, and so far only seen two Platinum Ingot, with all three catalogs equipped. The drop rate is seriously like 3% or something. >_>

That actually does make me feel better, I've gotten like 4. And you called me Jon, ahaha that's awesome. Not many people call me that besides close friends. Interesting. =]

The epic feeling after finally killing one in 13 made me vote for it. After several 15-16 minute battles that ended in failures. Killing one was sooo gratifying.

Btw the just a side not but are you guys getting five star ratings when you take down the Adamantoise? I think it really helps and I know a very useful strategy to take them down that I picked up from a youtube video and it's money. I take em down in like 5 minutes and the fastest 2 and a half minutes. Here's how I do it:

My party is Fang (leader) , Lightning, and Hope.

My paradigm deck:
SAB-MED-SYN [Evened Odds] - active paradigm
SAB-MED-MED [Perserverance]
RAV-RAV-RAV [Tri-Disaster]
COM-COM-RAV [Aggression]
SEN-MED-MED [Combat Clinic]

So starting in Evened Odds is how I begin, with Hope buffing the party and Lightning ready to heal. I'm controlling Fang for several reasons, choose your actions for yourself and cast Deprotect, Deshell, and Imperial on one of the legs. Once all of them land make sure you're healed by switching to Perserverance or Combat Clinic and then switch to Tri-Disaster to stagger the leg. Once it's staggered immediately switch to Aggression and use Fang's Highwind, take the legs entire health away. Back to Evened Odds for the next leg. If you ever are in health trouble or Hope has cast all the buffs he can switch to Perserverance so he can help out Lightning healing since he is much better. Do the same thing to the next leg and once you do Highwind the big beast will collapse.

Now back to Evened Odds and inflict Deprotect, Deshell, and Imperial once again. After those are in place switch right to Tri-Disaster and drive his chain guage up. I stay here til I get him close to 999% after I stagger him to inflict the most damage then switch to Aggression so I have two commandos in Fang and Lightning for the most damage. Wail away on him while he's down, if he starts to get up I use Highwind again which sometimes finishes him off. Pretty much it depends on how fast I can get the debuffs to land whether or not I only have to take him down once to kill him or not. Wait as long as you can for Highwind though because it completely reduces his chain gauge back to 0. If he lived through it repeat the process switching to Perseverance or Combat Clinic if you get in trouble. This should take him down in 5 minutes or so if he gets up and 2 and a half if you only need to take him down once.

Equipping General's Belt's (reduce physical damage) and Gaian Ring's(reduce Earth damage) helps me out too. Each of my characters have one that is mastered equipped. Fang has the Genji Glove to help her inflict a lot of damage as well as the two catalogs I have on Light and Hope.

I did try fighting a Long Gui but not with this strategy yet. The time I did he Ultimaed me and then stomped and I was down for the count lol

I loved XI's adamantoise design, mind you it was not metalic like one would expect but the design was awesome.
