Please keep in mind that this review was originally written in 2008. I am posting it in its entirety.

Final Fantasy X-2 is, in my honest opinion, on of the best games that I have played in my history as a gamer. First of all, it is the first true sequel in the Final Fantasy series. One good thing about Final Fantasy is that each one has a different story line, with different characters. You never feel lost if you don't have one.

This game takes place two years after Yuna defeats Sin and brings the "Eternal Calm" to Spira. Yuna leaves her quiet island home of Besaid to join her former guardian Rikku in the Gullwings. The Gullwings are sphere hunters. Yuna joined to find more clues about Tidus (or whoever you named him in Final Fantasy X), the man in Final Fantasy X that ends up vanishing because he is "a dream of the Fayth". Lots of stuff happens that make Yuna realize that though Sin is gone forever, the Calm will not last unless something is done.

The game revolves around the Youth League and New Yevon, two political parties vying for power over Spira. This rift is just one of underlying facts that occur whil Vegnagun, a monster machina from 1000 years ago, is awakening under Spira in the Farplane.

Yuna decides to help Spira by singing to soothe the souls of the warring groups. This song makes the people see the error of their ways and they quit feuding. Yuna them makes her way to the Farplane, where she Rikku, and Paine, defeat Vegnagun and save Spira once again.

My favorite part of this game is how revolutionary this game is. I especially like how the ladies were able to change their abilities just by changingtheir outfits. This game brings back the ATB (Active Time Battle) system, a staple in Final Fantasy history. Personally, I prefer the CTB (Conditional Turn-based Battle) system of Final Fantasy X, but I can see why they use ATB for this one.

My least favorite part was how I had to choose between supporting the Youth League or New Yevon. I wanted to give the "Awesome Sphere" to both groups. For this review, I gave it to the Youth League. This allowed me to get to Youth League headquarters later on in the game to acquire Nooj's Sphere. This puts another point in my completion percentage. With FFX-2's New Game Plus mode, I could give the sphere to New Yevon, but I only play a game again if I have nothing else to play.

Overall, I give this game 9 out of 10 points. I feel that this is one of the best scripted, animated, and inspiring games the Final Fantasy people have come up with. And, with the advances with the Internet, I was able to earn all but two dresspheres during my first playthrough. There is also a secret ending that I could only have gotten with the help of guide. I recommend this game to all of the people who like the Final Fantasy series, and especially those who already have Final Fantasy X.

Critic's Notes: I stand by all reviews I have made, even if years have gone by. I still think this is a great game, though not THE best game. Three years have gone by since this review, and a lot of great games have been made since then. My progress with this game has changed as well. I have since received all dresspheres (that are in the American version), and my highest percentage of completion has been 98%. This game does have me questioning the ending. For instance, IF there was to be a FFX-3, I would want to see a return of the aeons. Maybe even more aeons (like Leviathan). I would also want to know what happens after the conclusion of X-2.

Remember, I am always willing to take suggestions. If you know of a game that I should review, just VM/PM me. Most likely, I have the game, or can get the game.
