What online RPGs do you play?

I don't pay for online games, including rpgs, but there are many good ones online for free, I'm currently playing.

Hmmm...I used to play WoW...ALOT..but I stopped playing last year because my parents refused to buy another time card lol ^^".So now I play Perfect World International Genesis (if anyone on here plays that),its...mostly like WoW..but different in some ways.-When I was about 9 or 10 I played Adventure Quest ( xD ).Thats about it lol...

I've been playing WoW off and on since it's release in November 2004. Originally for the Alliance on Laughing Skull, then I switched to Horde on Kul Tiras to play with real life friends late in the Burning Crusade expansion (Season 4 for PvP is all I really remember)

I still play on Kul Tiras until I get bored, quit for a few months and go back. Regil, Dirgon, Vandersplode, Gaias, Sothas, Mudkips, Tershok, Radix, Morley, and Dirok are my toon's names, 7 are 85, 1 is 81, 1 is 64, Dirok used to be 80 but I deleted him to reroll my warrior as an Orc, and he's mid 20s while I wait for a real life friend to play again.

$15 to play WoW is cheaper than $300+ to keep buying 360 games to keep me entertained for that long.

I play League of Legends, it's a MOBA but it has some basic RPG elements. Free to play but it thrives on microtransactions. And yes I've bought some stuff on it with rl money lol, but it keeps me entertained and I'm really good at it, so I enjoy it.

People are going elsewhere, or playing the level cap trial, which I did. And WOW is good but its just like most of the other's I've played... Eternal Eden is a good one, I like it but of course its kiddy anime stuff and it is cool to have a badass like an orc or something. I wouldn't pay that much for WOW cuz what if I decide to not play it for a couple of days? Sometimes I go weeks without playing a certain game, would I want to pay for that? You gotta look at it from a multi gamers perspective. Course I respect WOW and your service I just wish it was public... D2 was, I guess blizzard was more generous then...

Well I wouldn't pay for one game only but that's just me. Plenty of free alternatives and honestly, if they want to charge people for the game, they should charge them when they buy it... The expansion is still like 40 bucks. Does the Library charge you 20 bucks to come in? That's public, when a game wants your credit card, your money, and all of your time, its not public. Public means free to the people, like a public bathroom, its free... Charging money is not public man.

Anyways, WOW is to demanding, lets say I did sign up for WOW, and I liked it. Well every minute or hour I'm off WOW I'm wasting 16 bucks a month and probably countless change... I'd really much rather have a superscription to netflix or something... A game should not conquer a life, many people sit in front of WOW playing it for hours, even days at a time. Paying for it only subjects it to a kind of infallibility in your mind, you pay so much and now you think this game is better than any other game, well I don't even think WOW is that great to be honest compared to every other online game...

So far the only online RPG I play is Final Fantasy XI, well not so much play now because my laptop broke, so I'm waiting on buying a desktop when I get back to the states. I miss it too much to stop playing it.

I played WoW for a total of like an hour before I got bored of it. Think I played FFXI too much and trying to play WoW just was not going to happen.

There were a few other ones I used to play like Ragnarok and Aion. I might get back into Aion once I get my desktop, depends on if I ever get bored of FFXI.

The one thing I will give WoW is that the story is pretty legit. I played both Warcraft III games and well that was the reason the whole WoW peaked my interest. Mainly because I wanted to see how badass Arthas would become. His story was always my favorite.

Wow that was the most screwed up response to WoW being pay to play I've ever seen.

1. Anyone can play it. $15/mo for the game? It's cheap when games cost $60-$70 each now and offer a slim percentage of the amount of content that WoW contains.

2. You think buying the original game + expansions is enough for the company to keep the game running? They have full time staffs to run in-game customer service, phone customer service, bug fixes, new content, new items, new gear, new art, new characters, new lore, new stories, as well as keep on top of bandwidth costs, server infrastructure, hardware upgrades, full time staff to monitor said hardware, etc.

Granted, it COULD be cheaper per month, as we all know the game is making Blizzard hand over fist, but $15 isn't much.

3. People are going elsewhere? Is that why there's still 10 million+ subscribers to WoW, because people are going elsewhere?

4. "It's like every other MMO" is the wrong thing to say. Every other MMO is like WoW. World of Warcraft revolutionized, and has probably killed, the MMO genre. EVERY game that's come out since November 2004 has been a WoW clone in one respect or another.

5. "I wouldn't pay for one game." So you get all your console and PC games for free? You never pay for ANY game, ever? Null argument.

6. "What if I don't play?" Yes, you still pay for the subscription. When you pay for a console game, do you play it EVERY DAY, EVER? Because then you've just payed for a game you aren't playing on Tuesday or Wednesday, but you'll play it Thursday. Get my point?

7. People don't play WoW for hours on end because they're paying a monthly fee. They play WoW for hours on end because there's a ridiculous amount of things to do. After nearly 7 years of it, however, all the new stuff is just rehashed old stuff, but it's stuff to do none-the-less. This ridiculous amount of things to do exists because... get this, you pay a monthly fee!

I'm not defending WoW. I get bored of the game within a week of resubbing, which is why I play it off and on, if at all, but your argument is one of the silliest things I've read on this forum in the decade I've been here.

I don't drive my car everyday, but I still pay the $70 a month for the insurance on it just in case I get in a wreck. (that, and it's illegal in this state to have no insurance on a car lol).

I think younger people don't understand how monthly bills work, and since it confuses/scares them, they instantly hate monthly fees.

Besides, nowadays $15/month isn't that much, it's like 2 meals at McDonalds. Anyone with even an allowance for making their bed can manage that.

I really don't understand the whole fanaticism over WoW. I've tried the free trial, and I honestly couldn't give it more than 10 minutes of my time. The graphics are definitely geared toward a younger audience, the npc's have no character, it just seemed like I was part of some graphically horrid cartoon.

Recently I dropped Rappelz entirely. The grind was absolutely horrible and the community was dying. (Either high level elitists or complete noobs. No middle)

If anyone wants to try a new MMO, I would definitely recommend Vindictus. The grind, although boring, is definitely lesser than any other MMO I've played. (I've gone from 58 to 61 in one day, level 61 being the "Unlock all content" level.

The story consists of NPC's who have their own personalities, some more likable than others, and it takes its own twists and turns to keep you interested. Aside from that, the gameplay is Action based. You will find yourself worrying more about dodging and learning the enemies attacks rather than yelling at the tank to do their job. You'll be buttonmashing in a completely different way, not necessarily spamming hotkeys over and over, bored out of your mind.

It does require a different learning curve though.

I actually don`t like playing RPGs online. But i have played Runescape, and i can say, that it was a cool game! I loved quests. They weren`t like in most online RPGs (like kill 10 rats or so). Every quest has it`s story to reveal! It was cool to quest in Runescape
