Anyway, YouTube - Final Fantasy XII Music - Time for a Rest is a sad theme. Although, in the middle, it does get too... loud, if you get what I'm saying. But the one saddest song of any RPGs, not just Final Fantasy, is this: YouTube - HQ Star Ocean 3 OST - Chrysanthemum In Winter.

You'll find a lot of the sadder songs are in Final Fantasy VII. It's a very bleak, grim game.

Saddest song would be To Zanarkand though, easily.

Most final fantasy music that I find "sad" I also find inspiratinal and beautiful. My favorites off the top of my head are: 1, Cid's Theme(ff7, but the version they play in space). 2, Fragmented Memories(ff8, the sweet song they play when Laguna's in Winhill.) That's all I feel like typing on a psp but I've got more. Sad ff music, as it happens, sounds beautiful.

The saddest FF song I heard would be from Final Fantasy III (VI) when Locke meets Rachel as she dies (or goes into a coma? forgot been a long time), that music alone brought me to tears and it's not easy bringing a brotha like me to tears....

Yea, Aeris' theme always makes you want to shed a tear, but a tear of joy... its a very uplifting piece but sad at the same time... strange.

You know, with what was going on at that point in the game and all the dialouge that you read with it. The song just seemed inspiring to me. It wasn't really sad. (It's cirtainly one of the best songs in the game though!)

I thought Rose of May was kinda sad sounding.

I love how FFX soundtrack had the most amazing and Epic xD Songs of the FF Series just its so beautiful i don't know why that has its most beautiful pieces but What ever i love them along with the MGS Soundtracks.

Aerith's theme was probably the saddest music for me - mainly because it was playing throughout her death and the Jenova fight. It was so heart-wrenchingly tragic.

I can't just pick one...there are so many sad ones or ones that pull at the strings of your heart. I'd have to go with Aeris' theme, Celes' Theme, Ending Theme (ffX), and Yuna's Ballad (FFX2), each of them has like a powerful yet sad emotional feeling to them.

Edit: Aeris' theme was also kinda sad and it kinda foreshadowed events to come (Generally, character themes aren't all sad and stuff) and also the song that plays when Zidane learns about his past (you're not alone?)
