Green Hill or Emerald Hill? (Sonic 1&2 megadrive/genesis)
I was listening to both zone songs and seeing which one I liked better. Which song do you like better and why do you like it better? I have to go with Green Hill because the tune sounds happier than the tune in Emerald Hill and it really has an emotion to it.
Strange that you posted this because I was listening to Green Hill today. I like Green Hill more. I only remembered it because it came with synthesia. I miss playing Sonic on my Sega I remember playing Sonic 2 most though. With every song I can remember the level perfectly. Me and my brother used to play sonic after Sunday school while eating lunchables^^ That and Toejam and Earl Chheeeeh!!

I'm thinking about creating a hybrid. A dolphin-monkey. Half dolphin, half monkey. Do you think it's possible?
I was thinking that since I'm artificially creating it, I'll create it with rocket fuel instead of blood, and thus it will be able to fly, using the dolphin's dorsal fins as wings. And from the air, it will look down upon us all and protect us against sharks, and search for bananas.

I'm gonna have to go with Green Hill zone. It was the first song I heard in the first well, videogame I ever played. It just has a nice pace to it and sounds much less abrasive than the Emerald Hill song. The high pitched "trumpet" sounds are kind of annoying, but the bass line is pretty cool.
I have to give Sonic oodles of credit though for having such incredible music all around. I've been going through the soundtracks from the links posted, and each level and song are so memorable and fit so perfectly together. Like the casino night level just has the flair and feel of being in some Vegas style casino.
I'm pretty sure that the Battery Zone music trumps all, especially with Michael Jackson on the remix!
But yeah, props to Sonic for creating such good music on a system with limiting audio, like the Genesis.

As far as originals go, I prefer Green Hill Zone. Remixes on the other hand are a dead tie. The two Best remixes I've found for Emerald Hill and Green Hill:
But I think one of my all time favorite themes from the Sonic games was from Hydrocity zone in Sonic 3. YouTube - Sonic the Hedgehog 3 - Hydrocity Theme OC Remix it's a remix, but amazing close to the original, just with real instruments.
Sonic music pwns NES/SNES music about 80% of the time (I think it had to do with genesis' sound engine) But yeah. Sonic was one of my all time favorite games, just because it's fun as hell, no overbearing story that takes thought, and it's fast paced.
