Feeble attempts at computer based art

I've hit a snag of immense boredom, of late, so I've been delving into the creation and manipulation of digital art. I'll be posting here relatively frequently, until I get a job, so please leave me lots of feedback, and if you know any good tricks that I can use in GIMP, feel free to let me know.

Made this one this afternoon, was going to use it for a sig but I really liked what I had started so I redid it as a wallpaper. should be a 1024x768 resolution

The very first link in the post is nice, but ...boring. Of course, it may be the fact that it's all very symmetrical, all very familiar. I like the squiggle thing in the middle.

The second is quite busy. All really good designs, but too busy when they're put in a sig together, imo.

As for the latter two, your choises of brushes and designs is very...interesting to say the least. Very differing opionions, and as much as I hate that lime green one, I kind of like it just because it reminds me of booming music in headphones. Strange?

I think you need to practise a little more and maybe progress onto editing photos, too. That'd be interesting.

I really like the 1st one, it inda reminds me of those 'magic eye' books i use to have, it looks likes the images coming out towards ya, and the last one (the green) is pretty cool to

Chez: Booming music in headphones? Actually, when I look at it for more than a second, I kind of see where you're coming from on that. Also, when you mentioned editing photos, that reminded me of a few little projects I've done in the past, and hadn't remembered until now:


Windowsill Fun 1: This is about as basic as they come, just cut out the window portion, and threw another picture, that I solarized (I think that was the filter i used anyway) into the background

Windowsill Fun 2 : This one was a lot of fun, and let me get a feel for some of the filters in photoshop. It's kind of busy though, but in this case, I think it works.

Red Moon Rising: This is the third version of the Windowsill, and my favorite. messed with some lighting effects, to match the picture I put in the background. by this time, I had a handle on what I was doing, and it turned out fairly, well, not - bad.


McLovin' : As you may or may not be able to tell by the title, I photoshopped myself onto a McLovin ID. Not a very good job, but it was still fun to do.

"Green Envy" makes my head spin, but is nevertheless quite interesting.

I quite like your windowsill ones, too. Very creative, I thought, if basic, and very interesting.

Ha, I've done a few other photoshops, lately, using my newly downloaded Paint.NET. That programs pretty cool.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3: Angel Island Zone

Originally this was my entry into the baner/sig contest. but since then I've done some more stuff to it, and cleaned it up a bit. The Sonic 'shop is the beginning of what I'm planning to make a series of 'shops. I plan to do Something with each zone, and I'll be replacing the textures/landscapes with their real life counterparts in at least two more of the five others. Depends on how...er....Possible it is with my current skill level.
