Jared am I. And of course I read it.
When the city of Voteporix is frozen over after an unprovoked attack by an unknown adversary, a group of survivors pursue in order to reclaim what was stolen from them – a precious key of utter importance to their research. But soon they realize that their thief is after something much greater, beyond what anybody can expect, nor counter.
The story follows a group of survivors from this attack, who survived thanks to the fact that three of them were researchers who were only in Voteporix temporarily. A swift escape in an airship, the Valefor, after some air combat by some small time ships who noticed their leaving, sees them safe in a HQ in the Zencht Mountain Pass. But their thief is only just getting started.
Basically, it is a Final Fantasy fan fiction to a vague extent. These are the main things relevant back to the series:
- The name of the airship is the Valefor.
- People fit under different magical classes. Most of the magic-orientated classes are to be in the story. For example, the ‘initial’ party planned has six characters, each with a different job. Magic doesn’t reflect back to Final Fantasy as much (there is no ‘ras’ or ‘agas’), but some are there (but probably won’t be called what you’d expect). And, of course, aeons are from the series.
Otherwise, Final Fantasy’s main contribution is inspiration. Basically, this is one of a few attempts over several years to write something FF-esque, but generally this is the most promising because both of the writer’s skills have improved over that time; more planning has gone into the plot so things aren’t tacked on and there are twists; and it’s aiming higher in length and epicness. The whole thing, plot wise and how it is probably going to progress, is pretty Final Fantasy-ish.
Basically, the first outline above is just a taste, the second gives you some idea how it progresses in the first few chapters Oh, and if you haven’t heard of Voteporix or Zencht Mountain Pass, that’s because they don’t exist. There are no locations from the series or our world. In an earlier draft plan, Esthar was to be a part of the Southern continent, but that was scrapped, as it’s a meaningless reference.
The main characters are as follows:
- Vahe, a guard of Voteporix Hall who has lived in the dome of a city for all his life. Because of this career status, he wields a lance and his highly trained in using it. The odd chapters are written in his perspective, written by Jared Castle.
- Zephan, a researcher who lives on the Valefor with the rest of his crew. He has been studying the Temples of the Goddesses for some time now. The even chapters are written in his perspective, written by Kane Hay (me >_<).
- Xylia, one of Zephan’s co-workers, who helped establish the group. She is the Valefor’s main pilot.
- Axx, another fellow researcher.
- Ava, a Voteporix resident who escapes with Vahe and Bracchus with Zephan & co.
- Brucchus, a Voteporix resident which, thanks to Ava, also escaped the attack.
I could say more about them, as we’ve done a fair bit on the characters to begin with. If you want more info, feel free to ask for it. I’m not going to give any spoilers, though.
I could give more of the plot, but the main plot isn’t final yet. Some draft chapters have been done, but the ball isn’t rolling just quite yet. So, why am I posting this? To see if there’s interest in reading this fiction, if the storyline is at all intriguing with that outline as an example, and just to get it out there, really. If there is interest, I’ll probably post the chapters here also, or at least link to where they will be hosted (it will be something you can read whilst we’re writing it, but you might need to be patient, as we won’t release a chapter that hasn’t been thoroughly checked by both of us).
Basically, anything you want to know, go ahead and ask. Before you do, though... Do me a favour and don’t ask me when you’re going to see the first chapters. Drafts have been made, but certain circumstances may prevent final copies being declared for a little bit. The ball should be rolling soon, though. Also, I might hesitate to elaborate on plot points that aren’t completely concrete, but I’ll try my best.
Thanks for reading! Please reply if you’ve read that.

Either not enough people visit the literature section of this forum, or the idea is just epic fail... >_>
Well there isn't really anything to comment on since all you've posted is an outline. Plus you said not to post asking when the chapters will be up, so that eliminated most of what probably would have been posted. =P You'll probably start getting comments and such once you actually start putting up the story itself.
Besides which, this isn't a well trafficked forum, unfortunately. It's been a long time since we had any really epic threads, so I'm looking forward to seeing how this develops in the future.

DragonHeart nailed it in the head. This forum isn't really very active. Plus, yeah, you saying not to ask when the chapters will be up pretty much killed any sort of comments that you would have gotten. I can't wait till the story gets put up, though.
For the sake of some material, I could put up a draft for Chapter 2, but it isn't very long. All you'd get out of it is a taste of the writing style and Zephan & co's arrival at Voteporix, which is a bit thrilling.
