    The Poetry Thread

Okay, so I have been scrolling through the Literature Forums pages and I have noticed a lot of poetry threads. So I am thinking we should just make a big poetry thread so everyone can post there lovely pieces of work in one thread so we don't have a million threads floating around. And people will be able to comment of them as well and post their own so they don't have to make another thread. (I swear I just repeated myself... =__=) Anyway, plus if this could get turned into a Sticky thread it would never go away!

Now I am just putting this idea out, and I will start it off by putting up one of mine. This one is an older one of mine.

    Your Feel
    By: Devon L. Kay

    Whenever I see you
    my soul takes flight.
    Whenever I hear you
my heart is in the light.

    You look so beautiful
    your wonderful hair,
    your sweet smile,
your deep brown eyes, so rich, so pure.

I don't know how to approch you,
I wouldn't know what to say.
You look at me, and I look away.

I wonder what you feel like,
    skin so soft, so warm.
I wonder if you would kiss me,
    lips so cool, so loving.

    If only you knew,
    how I feel about you.
    If only I knew,
    a little more about you.

    I can't stop staring,
I wonder if you will notice.
    I will notice you,
Now just need to talk to you.

I will talk to you soon,
    just that be known.
I hope you like me too,
    and if you do,

    I will smile.

    -----

Although I did over use "I" in this one.
I could decide to stop breathing, I may decide to die. Only to show you what I truly mean. ~Devon L. Kay

Just because I smile, does not mean I am happy. Just because I laugh, does not mean I am not hiding something. When I cry, something is wrong. When I am sad, do not comfort me. And when I love you, it is forever. ~Devon L. Kay
The blood that spills, to the tears that I cry. I only wish for the nighttime to come. I wait and I wonder, I whisper and I stare, there is nothing that is ever there. I slowly close my eyes, as they grow silver with lust. ~Devon L. Kay

Have you ever been to the grassy plains
At night when the crescent moon wanes?
Watching in awe at the stars so bright
Feel the nice, cool breeze on a warm summer's night.
Millions of stars across the sky,
I sit alone wondering how and why
I came to be the way I am
And how no one else really gives a damn.
Or are there "friends" out there who want to see
The smiling faces on you and me.
Oh, I wish I knew how I came to be
On these plains without you next to me.

I'm a very amateur poet, so don't be expecting too much from me.

    Hugging Haiku
    Hugs are always free
If you need one, just ask me
    I'd be happy too

    Emptiness
The sad little girl walked through the snow
Until she came by the ocean
    There she saw a puddle
    She gazed into it
And only saw the empty sky…

    Play That Music Loud
    My neighbor's in the street
Out in the cold with bare feet
    Yelling about the stereo
    Turn it down low
    Is what he is preaching
But we are just not listening
    We crank the volume up
    The speaker's erupt
Music flows out onto the street
    Warming up our neighbor's feet

    And we start to dance
    Just partying the night away
    No thoughts, but that's okay
    Just killing time anyway
    And we start to move
Over from one house to the next
    Partying wherever it is best
We just drink the night away
Twelve is enough but ten's okay
    And we start to dance
And then we all fall down

The are the some of the only ones that I have any confidence in.

@Summoner Matsuda: I agree. You overused the "I" just a bit too much. It's all good though. It's a raw poem that doesn't hide behind any imagery and the emotion is just in your face. Awesome work. =]

@Dimmu: DUDE! Seriously, when I read the first few lines, it immediately drew me in. I can just visualize the whole scenario as you're writing. Then at the end, it made me think of The Lion King when Simba and Mufasa we're gazing at the stars.

@Lillium: It's hard viewing you as an "amatuer poet". All three of them are really nice but your last one really stood out to me. I get this message that it's talking about having a great time and letting go of your troubles just to have fun. Good work.

Thanks. Most of my poetry I believe to be crap. That's why I call myself an amateur when it comes to poetry.

I'll post two more, just for the heck of it.

    Another Day
    Another Church
    Another plain
    Another cloudy day
The soil soaks up the water poured upon itself
    Catching the falling droplets
Except for the ones that have already been caught
    Another day gone
    Another hour mourned
    Another red eye
    Another mourning group gone
Silence now comes in from all angles
    Long after the service
    Another life taken
    Another day only vaguely remembered

*I overuse the word 'another' in this, don't I?

    Untitled
I'm taking shots at a bar
While the man beside me smokes a cigar
    I ask for a hit
    And I have to admit
    I never gave it back
I'm an addict whose not addicted
    To any substance restricted
    My tastes are legal
    The worst I can recall
    Since they're available to all
The dark is my drug of choice
    Silence is my favorite voice
    Until the music comes on
    A familiar song
I let it take over me

*I just wrote this like, 10 minutes ago, and plan to edit it and add more to it (like I want to with a good amount of my other poems). If you can't find a meaning in it, well, you're in good company, because it seems kind of vague, even to me.

I know that poems should take time to write and such, but does anyone else practice 'Stream of Conscious" writing here? It seems like a good amount of my poems are written and edited using this type of writing, or at least start out that way.

This was written my first year of college and I was in a really dark place at the time. I think this was the last time I wrote poetry. Not the best writing but the only thing I could find intact.

    Bleak Twisted Night

    Perceptive ravens land
    In the bleak twisted sand
    The blackness cruelty grew still
Reality forced to insanity against a single will
The designated place of beastly fear
Appropriate paranoia concealed in a single tear
    A shove from behind
A prolonged piercing cry extremely unkind
A bewildered grasp at life's last fragile breath
The luminous water unveiled imminent death
    Perceptive ravens take flight
    In the bleak twisted night

    First thing's first.

I love this idea, don't get me wrong. It takes away all of those individual poetry threads and lumps them all into one messy, unorganized box. (See where I'm going with this?)

Mind you, I don't think a thread like this should be mandatory for people to post their poetry in. Sometimes people don't feel comfortable doing something like that.

Another thing, is that this takes away from forum content. All the poetry in this thread would make the forum look baren, aside from what author discussions we have.

I may be wrong in thinking this, but I don't think this will really work. And I'm not going to sticky this thread because we have enough stickies as it is in this forum.

If the literary works thread was updated regularly, all of the poetry threads by people would be linked to in there in an organized manner.

Now, if you did that in the first post and organized everything, it could work, but again, would take away the uh.. core content of this forum and make it look empty.

That's just my take on it though, as the forum's moderator.

So, bottom line: I want a million threads hanging around. It makes this place seem active.

    Life is like a ball,
    It bounces up,
    Then spins about,
    And soon comes falling down.

Life is like a piece of candy
    Colorful and bright,
But after sucking much too long
    It's dull and undisguised.

The sweetness and the joy that once
    you held on so dear,
Is now an empty shell which
    Soon will disappear.

    Deplorable how fragile,
    Astounding at its grace,
    Destructive at it’s' mercy,
But none the less to face.

    The Ending
    by JMO(me)

Death is not the end of life.
    But, not the ending.
After life there is a new being.
    As angles with wings,
Or as angles without their wings (fallen angles)
The sun shows us hope, when
    All is lost.
The moon gives us light when, darkness comes, as it
    Crosses our darkest memory.
    Still, that’s not the ending.
When you give up on live, Love is not ending on you,
But love is, and will always go on without you.
    There is no ending,
Only when you want there to
    Be an ending.
Death is the end of life. And it is
Not the end, but the being of a new life that’s waiting for you.
All you need to do is keep going.
    Even in the after life

    Looking

    I am looking, waiting
    for anything to do
    anything exciting
    to make me feel anew

    I am looking, searching
    for anyone who'll care
I don't care who it is
    just anyone who'll dare

    I am still looking.
I will for a long time
    for anything, for anyone
    with reason and rhyme

    Maybe I should rethink this
    Looking's not enough
You need to have some sort of start
    regardless smooth or rough

    So, hear me all!
    Far and Wide!
    Anymore
    I shall not hide

    For I now know
    One way or another
    I don't look for them,
    we find each other...

The poem below probably won't be too good just thought i'd see if I could come up with something on the spur of the moment. Anyhow here it is:

    Mr. Invisible

Just call me Mr. Invisible because I am the one you never see.

Just call me Mr. Invisible because you never notice me.

I am like the wind and come and go as I please.

I am like the cold winter breeze.

Where I am you never know because I cannot be seen.

Just call me Mr. Invisible.....you don't notice when I appear on the scene.

I walk down streets and halls and sidewalks all day.

I see tons and tons of people and noone ever says hey.

I am one of the most inconspicious people you'll never meet.

I pop up out of thin air and then am gone again and all you

see are the tracks of my feet.

Mr. Invisible is who I am and shall forever be.

Yes i'm Mr. Invisible and this completes the tale about me.

Alternately, some people may not be comfortable with posting their own threads for their poetry, or in my case, don't write it often enough to really warrant an entire thread.

    DragonHeart's Haiku

    I.

    Brisk autumn wind,
    Leaves' last solemn dance.
    Miles to go, yet.

    II.

    A cold rain in fall,
    Gray as winter's misery.
    Another year dead.

    III.

    Austen to Shakespeare,
    The wonder of ages past.

It has been so long since I even thougt of poetry. I worked on this piece for a few hours on the train the other day.

    Habits

Waking from the short lived freedom
    Such involuntary submission
    To start another empty session
    To end another fruitless search

    When does the cycle break
    When we walk with adoration
    For the bountiful beauty
    of a new dawn's break

When the smoke of this asylum
    clears to reveal the sky
and reveal the wonders to everyone
or at least to those who try.
Strayed from the pack, the wolf howls to the moon forever more, never to leave her sight

So, ummm, i wright a lot and i'm very shy about showing my writings so i thought i'd try and show everyone here first.

    Dreams

Dreams that I think or make up,
    Should always come true,
Dreams that consist of many things,
Some consist of me and you,
Dreams that never go wrong or sad,
    All of them end good,
Dreams I think are not confusing,
Many of them, i have understood,
Dreams I think about may be the future,
    And could come true,
Dreams of the future that have many things,
Those consist of me and you.

i, too, write a lot, but when i share them i usually dont get any feedback. i actually posted a bunch of my work, but the only person that commented on it was Chez Daja and she kinda hated it. They were all written at, like, 3 am, so they're probably kinda crappy, but tell me what you think of this one.

    IN THE CLEARING.....
In the middle of the forest
Is a dark clearing where she sits
The leaves around her drenched in blood
From where she slit her wrists
You return a few weeks later
To find that this is where she lies
She seems so peaceful, yet you see
    The pain she hides inside
    She awakes, you disappear
Out of sight, though remaining near
    Her dark angel in disguise
Watching as she tells her lies
She says she's fine, in fact, she's great!
You tell her family, "Just wait."
Two days later, you were right
She couldn't make it through the night
Now in the middle of the forest
In the dark clearing where she sat
    Stands a single gravestone
    Marked only with a bat

I don't like the last line, but I was soooo tired and haven't been bothered to come up with one that's any better

I'm nervous and am like to stop writing and run away at any given moment.
    So go easy on me...please?
The poem is based on an old Norse creature.

    Garm of Hounds(Sonnet)

I have always lived chained and caged
by others. So, feed up, I broke away.
No one looked or cared for me, which got me raged.
So I joined the best among warriors, to keep me at bay.

My new brethren bestowed me with a task
far beyond my thought. I was to slay
Hel's guard dog. And in my loyalty they bask.
So I got on my horse and rode off as the skies were gay.

Not long did it take till I found the hound
in Gnipahellir, for his howl gave him
away. I walked up to him for I was bound
to do so anyway. I drew my sword, to my master's whim.

The blood-stained hound's eyes caught mine, and I could not deny.
That this chained dog was no different than I.

I have better poems but they're longer. I'm not that great a poet but I'm young and trying to get better.
I hope that counts for something!

This INCREDIBLE banner was made by Kilala, thank you so much for making it for me!

Here is a poem by someone named Thief. Actually, Thief was my first and most known username. So I wrote this poem!

    Fate
    ====
Fate is something unseen to our eyes.
It is the only truth in a world of lies.
Fate is the one thing that cannot be changed.
Sometimes, it makes us feel happy; other times, deranged.
The winds and the flames are all controlled by it.
And so are our lives; every part, every bit.
It is set in place; we can't push it or pull
In the end, all our attempts are futile.
We cannot alter the path that is already chosen for us.
And we won't, for it is the only thing that we can truly trust.
    And so the inevitable awaits...
We will resign ourselves to our fates.

    "A Princess Beyond The Pasture"

Her sight alone is elegant yet, I spare to displace it
Portraying her physical exterior? She'll aware you to forsake it
Cause her words comprise intellect, more or less indisputable
Abandon sensation that you will feel in your fingertips' cuticles
Draws out my spirit as being haunted & in grasp of a banshee
Reaching out with visible hands, anonymous facial... who is she?
The one I address as my highness, I title as sire
Sway her emotions as leaves in the wind, only I she attires
Little she acknowledges I Foresight her past fornication
Assuming me receiving her hand in matrimony is a vault temptation

Still the Princess strays the meadow with a silhoutted mind...

Boys & Men in legion she trialed faltered, only I am her complier
Basking in her presence, I prospect she sings in an angels choir
Withdrew in moments of clarity, when I question out the reason?
I position an Old English trial, beheaded for treason
I am her inevitable companion either end of the sentence is
Grateful she permits me to raise my head in impenitence
Message my lips to her hand, my honor for her is captured
The Queen of kingdom until then, A Princess Beyond The Pasture

This is my first written poem EVER so I hope it entertained you guys'. Trust me, I'll have more to post once I get the edge of this to perfection.

i use my mind as a weapon to to break out of all the cages
i had my feelings surround me during the time of all the changes
followed my causes after all of my actions
lived my life by the deep morals of maxims
took those words and broke them down
when times were bad i used them to lift me off the ground
thanks to all of the verbs and the nouns

    In Catafalque

Sands of misery flow in longevity,
That is casted away by eternal sublimity,
As you're faded inside of your moving grave,
Lies the truth of regretting waste,

Through the other side of trembling fate,
    Bounds together of symmetrical shape,
Buried alive while smothered in fear,
Tears you away while thrown in the rear,

Swallowed by the dust as you swallow your death,
That soon lingers around till your last breath,
Laying in your tomb as the hourglass is ticking,
    Will you survive?

As you're rotting away from time itself,
Will you become just a memory?
With that is forgotten and nothing remembered,
    Will you cease to exist?

The grain of sand is moving,
    Summoning despair into your grave,
The darkness settles in while the lights go out,
The catafalque comes, trapping you about,

All sides barred, you're screaming and kicking,
As you're begging for help, no one's listening,
You're pound away to nothing it seems,
But for a sudden moment, everything bleeds....

You're awaken from demise while shuttered in lies,
That helps you realize your reality's free from disguise,
Arising within yourself from torment and skew,
Allows you to revitalize yourself to something new,

On a journey across the pyramids to wonder but find,
Ask yourself your purpose while passing with time,
Your revelations come so believe within,
The path to faith is where it begins

(And to make things clear, this is not a religious poem.)

Well something short for any who still grace this section of the forums.
    'Captive'

    -Noah Black

    Behind stone walls
    And lock n’ key
    She sits waiting
    Yearning to be free
    Mazes winding
    From her cold cell
    To the outside
    Where life appears well
    Sounds of footsteps
    She never met
    The words echo
    “Sorry Love, not yet...not yet”

    "Malovent Beauty, Blissful Addiction"

Is it the sway in her voice that remarks my mind to disarray?
Or that my perspective is silenced under where I have no say?
There must be more to this tendency, leniant of a habit
Not to be merciless applying to her as an incentive
All the reason I'm sensually stirred... the cause? Her charm is rabid
The same as we vent temptation in effect her glancing me vindictive
Why is it similar traits she readies to atop & have me pinning?
Though I've mislead repairs where fixing wasn't the intuition
Be what blackens her spirit & suitable domain of their living

Now if only she'd fire them for delaying the message she is sending...

Yet, I won't place judgement upon her, that is not my division
A serenade with a ring on her finger is what I have in vision
Because our chemistry in one? More temperate then friction
So it's only right I treat that & her no less of my benediction
Although her instincts dwelt from years of lust
Regions where I send forth no placement on her account
I give her trust riyal treatment plus those on the line as such

No woman but her grazes me with this compulsive touch...

Who would I be hadn't I latched on her burdens as console?
Despite her as one prioriety in my circumferences
She knows her value , capable of leaving prior of thinking anywhere doubtful
That's only hallf of my obsessity, let me exploit my other senses

T (Touch) Is how our bare & pressed bodies manuever transit
H (Hearing) When her utters have my erections where I can't stand this
F (Feel) Sends me indication I'm within her inner core
2S (Smell and Sight) What is feeding my brain that of her, I need more

well since i didnt get an answer.....i put my songs on here so feel free to tell me what you think of them .... for real tell me what you think....

    Band name: Metal Militia
    Date 9-28-04

    Title: OUR SONG

This is our song my love
How are you doing today, today without me by your side?
It's tearing me apart now that we're so far away
I cry ever night, thinking of times we use to just
Just stay up late listening to cds and looking into each others eyes
And know that everything was gonna be alright

IM CRYIN, CAN YOU HEAR IT?
I MISS YOU, CAN YOU SEE IT?
I LOVE YOU CAN YOU TELL?

You lay beside me when you can
And it makes me the happiest man alive
    I remember when we met
    God I was so cold
Then I met you and you saved
You saved me and yu say I saved you too

    Chorus

I wish I could keep you in my arms forever and never let you go
I will never let you down. So don't ever worry
I love the looks you can't help but give me when we're together
I love it when you laugh at me when I'm dumb and
I love the sound of your voice when youre with me cause
    cause your so happy

    Chorusx3

And I love you for you and I always will
    no matter what

    chorus

When you think about... any form of music is expressed as poetry. I thought the same when I was in high school and people knowing that I rapped. Just as long as it's your words & out of your own compassion, that song you posted IS poetry.

I just prefer to do mine on the subject of my girlfriend & love.

I never even noticed that there was a poetry thread...SWEET!!! =3...You may or may not like it but I try =]

    Thy Pure Love
Recalling you and thy sweet lasting dreams
A Prince of thy passions purely divine
    Throughout eternity shall always shine
You truly are a human so extreme
You guide me at night like the suns great beams
You chase away fears as soon as I whine
All of our powers together combine
Will someday make us an outstanding team

Thinking forever of how we can blend
This love is so pure and fairly unseen
Waiting until the night our hearts shall mend
Knowing an age difference in between
Shalle never break this bond that will extend
But if only you knew how thy love means

Maybe I'll post more later :]

    A Real Renaissance

Making love to a female gunslinger.
    Something like a magnificent seven
out of the American Wild West
    with all of the sex.

    Even if Ulysses
    never set foot in England,
    there's a real renaissance
going on in this strange spectacular casement.

    Where you can see Arcturus
    and other coruscations.
    Unfortunately during this night
    there will be no somnolence.

    The gibbous moon
    dances around in its merriment
    in these assiduous activities
    marked with certain promises.

How much do they think of the
loathing in the places they are not.
How much do they think of the
failure in the places they are not.
