    Happiness

Now, look at what I've found. xD"
Somehow I'm pretty strange right now. I've got the feeling I've found my roots again, just because I'm desperately searching for positive aspects of life.
And this is what I found.

First off: It's short, I know, it's a real short story and I had to write it in school. Our teacher wanted us to train "creative writing" and he said we had to write about "happiness" (from deep within our heart *cough* how.. romantic.. xD")
I was by far the only one really writing a short story, all the others just wrote a few lines about the topic.

This thread is not only one for me, but for you also. If you've any impression on what happiness is, I'd really love to read it. <3

So here's what I thought about:
(If you find any typing mistakes... let me know, please xD")

    Happiness is...

Yesterday I got a letter which told me that an old classmate from elementary school died a few weeks ago. Colette. She was from France and never seen without a smile on her face. The card I got says that she "died happily". Happily?
I remember seeing her every day when school was over. In fall, she always jumped into puddles and laughed about getting wet. One day I couldn't withstand. I had to talk to her.
"Isn't your mother angry when your clothes are dirty?" I asked. She smiled at me and said: "My parents are divorced. I live with my dad, who's an alcoholic. He doesn't mind. He has never done in his whole life."
She passed by and laughed again, jumping into the next puddle. I went away. I was too frightened. I admit I thought that she'd be mad at me. But she wasn't. She had never been.
A few weeks later I risked to talk to Colette again.
"You're always happy, aren't you?" I asked. This time she laughed loudly and smiled mysteriously.
"It depends on what you think happiness is," she answered. Then she ran away. I didn't try to stop her. She gave me a hint which I seem to understand now that she's dead. I'd never talked to her again. But I had heard that her father had left her when she'd been 18. Her mother hadn't wanted to let Collete live with her, so she had lived alone. You might want to know why I actually cared. There's never been such things as "friendship" between us but I wanted to know what happiness is. So I sometimes followed her. And I always saw her jumping into puddles as if she were still nine years old. She never found a friend but she smiled all day long. Meanwhile I got desperate trying to find the meaning of happiness. As I said before: Now I understand.
Happiness is just to see the world with child's innocent eyes.

Wow, simple yet captures an excellent idea! I couldn't agree more that the most pure happiness is found in childhood. That carefree innocence, living in the moment without the stress of how they are going to eat tomorrow or to pay bills or anything else that arrives with the real world.

I have written some poems that capture the same idea. Very awesome post, and I would love to read more by you.
OLD SKOOL - A positive appellation referring to when things weren't flashy but empty of substance, were done by hard work, didn't pander to the lowest common denominator, and required real skill. Labour-saving devices, shortcuts that reduce quality and quitting before the task is done are not characteristics of "old skool."

In reference to computer games, refers to a game that had substantial playability without flashy graphics or eye candy. Old skool gamers appreciate difficult maneuvers, careful planning, and scorched earth policies.

In reference to role-playing games, old skool refers to games that tested players' wits, could kill off careless characters, and required dedication and inner strength to play. Old skool games didn't pander to the ideas that everyone is created equal, that all options are open to all races, that the markets were somehow free, and that a quasi-medieval society could have near 100% literacy.

Wow Freya, that was a great example of literature. You provided vivid images that portrayed hapiness to me. Very emotional and an excellent read, I almost cried.

    Thank you.

    Hi dear friend
    that was awesome
If you only think that you're gonna live your life just for once
you wouldn't pass it's precious moment by crying your bad luck that you think it is
she is an Example of hope
she isn't wrong by smiling since she has a little hope to keep her living
and that what it should be
and about childhood, huh ! hope to go back to mine only a moment ! ...
