Farewell to a Legend: Michael Crichton

...passed away today, at age 66, of cancer.

This is very sad news for me. The first adult novel I ever read was The Lost World, written by him. He sparked my imagination in ways I haven't felt before or since the day I read it. I credit him with making me love dinosaurs, and perhaps, my first fledgling thoughts of fantasy, of the worlds beyond reality.

I have an entire shelf in my personal library devoted to his work. Nonfiction and technothriller, dinosaurs, disasters, medical breakthroughs, time travel. Adventures. It takes a damned good writer to make science interesting, and he did a hell of a job.

Thank you Michael, may you rest in peace.

This is a sad day for all things literature.

I had alot of respect for this man and his writing, it is a horrible thing that he is no longer with us. He was a great writer and his film adaptions where amazing.

In memory of him I willto read some of his books again when I get them out of storage.....

He's dead? Bloody Hell, I had no idea.

I didn't read much of his work, but the novels I did read by him were always entertaining. They even named a street after him in a Silent Hill game, out of respect for his work.

The person in my avatar is me.

I literally just realized who this guy is, which is quite strange, because for the past few days, I've been reading one of his books. A Case Of Need, it's called, and it's really quite interesting. I really need to pay attention to who's writing the books that I'm reading. It's a shame that he's dead, because A Case Of Need is very well written, and I'm sure many of his other books are as well.
