    Ayn Rand anyone? :D

I've been reading a lot of Ayn Rand's work lately. I must say, her philosophy is spot on with the way I see things.
Anyway, currently I'm reading The Fountainhead. I like it a lot.
If you've got anything to say about Ayn Rand and/or her works, please share them If not, go about your merry way.

Im currently on the second of the three parts of "Atlas Shrugged". I am hoping to finish it before they release the first of the trilogy in the movie adaptions. But frankly taking into account the length of the book its going to be a struggle at the very least.

I can see the rhetoric for her portrayal of socialism as an obstacle to progress but frankly in this regard I cannot agree. I do agree that progress is driven by brilliant individuals but through a form of socialism the talent of these individuals must be fostered and maximised which I believe wont fully happen in a completely non regulated free market.

I have some of her fiction novels but haven't gotten around to reading them. I have read some of her philosophical books such as: Virtue of Selfishness, Romantic Manifesto, & a lexicon. I got into her philosophy after reading the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind which has objectivist influences. If you haven't read the Sword of Truth series do so, you'll probably enjoy the books.

Smurphy I wouldn't bank much, if you are at all, in the movies. I saw a behind the scenes snippet of the making of the first film and it did not look promising. I don't know exact details but the acting didn't look good. Perhaps the final product will be a surprise.
