    Yay, Car Crash...

Yay, it was my fault. Yay, I'm going to be paying a hefty fine. Yay, my insurance is going to go up. Yay, just when I thought I might have things figured out. I'm probably not going to be able to afford living on my own anymore... so after three short months of living on my own, it looks like I will probably be moving back home. Yay, me...

At least nobody was hurt. Anyhoo...

Yeah, this is like the worst thing that's ever happened to me in my life. I looked, but I didn't see him coming. I pretty much never saw him, except for maybe a split second when we hit. It was like he materialized there to get hit by me. This has almost happened before, too (I've either stopped at the last second, they've stopped at the last second, or someone riding with me yelled at me.) Maybe I need to look longer, or something? Or look in the right place? I don't know. I saw the car behind him who was still a distance off, but not him.

He said he wasn't hurt. He said his head hurt, but he didn't have whiplash or anything, and he thought he'd be okay. I'm okay too, but I don't know if my car is recoverable. The front right is bent in, and I think the axel might be bent on that side, too. The hub cap is definitely destroyed. I'm not sure where I hit him, but there were pieces of his car on the ground, including what looked like a light. I also hit a sign, which fell down and smashed in the window of a parked car (luckily there was no one in it at the time.) The lady who owned that car seemed more distraught than the guy I ran into; he was really calm. He was also old, though; maybe he didn't have the energy to chew me out right at that moment.

    Yeah, sucks. Anyhoo...

Here's a little update: My friend who is a car body worker has taken a look at the damage, and apparently there is some frame damage. It would cost $500 to repair the frame damage alone, and then after that it would cost another $500 for my friend to get the parts and repair the damage (and that's at "friend rate," which is substantially less than "body shop rate.") I called various salvaging places... and the most any of them would give me was $75 (if I towed it down there myself.) This is for a motor and transition that still work, and the motor is worth at least $200 itself. Greedy bastards. So I've put my car up on Craig's List to see if anyone is interested in it for parts or salvaging it. Anyhoo...
