I do know the religion quite well, I was once the biggest "stereotype" of a Christian on these boards. It is a "sit on your knees and pray" religion, and when it isn't, it is a hypocritical one.

Actually, emo was an offshoot of punk in the mid-80's.

yes it was, but so is hardcore. but emo was an off shoot off hardcore, which is an offshoot off punk. trust me i know what im talking about.

But emo is not classified as an offshoot from hardcore. Consider this, most emo bands are closer to punk than they are to hardcore.
While hardcore and emo did both stem from punk, emo came as more of punk rock sound. Hardcore came when they threw a little bit of metal into the punk.

No, Emo is considered an offshoot of Hardcore Punk. Hence why they sound similar to punk but with hardcore elements. Most early emo bands are really only loosely linked in their sound with similar ancestry.
Infact, there's even a genre called Hardcore Emo, which is redundant since emo is short for Emotive Hardcore..Therefore Hardcore Emo is Hardcore Emotive Hardcore.

None of those bands are even remotely close to being hardcore. Fallout Boy and Boxcar Racer are just plain pop punk, Flaw and Mushroom Head are nu-metal, Fear Before the March of Flames are what glam rock or something, Underoath is screamo and From First to Last just plain suck.

I don't want to preach on what real hardcore bands are because that is a little overused on ze web these days but hell the list shoud've been a little more thought of.
