X-Japan
I'm not really sure if there's EVER been a thread for X on here or not...
For those that don't know: Japanese based "glam rock" type band from the early to mid 90s, helped to start a movement known as "Visual Kei" (i.e. Japanese glam rock)
Abso-****ing-lutely amazing band. Musically they are incredible.
The band broke up sometime in the late 90s and shortly there after their lead guitarist, Hideto, died, some believe by suicide, others by accident (I choose to believe by accident) and they recently reunited with the surviving band members and released the song I.V. for the SAW IV soundtrack, using guitar tracks originally recorded by Hide, as well as paying some homage to Hide in the video here.
Some very notable tracks include:
I.V. As linked above.
Weekend
Silent Jealousy
Kurenai One of my favorites.
Rose of Pain (pt1)
Rose of Pain (pt2)
Forever Love, performed at their last live show together.
Forever Love, performed at Hide's funeral... very very touching.
And... my favorite song by X-Japan:
Art of Life (pt1)
Art of Life (pt2)
Parts 3 and 4 are really just some piano interludes/noise, feel free to skip

I thought I made a thread about them a year or two back, lol? I think you responded to it too. Anyway, they're definitely one of my favorite bands, which is odd when you look at my list of bands I listen to. Even got my bro-in-law to likem. So far I have most of their albums and love just about every song. And in all honesty, they're the best band in Japan then and now. I'm also glad they did a new song and hopefully there will be more to come.
So yeah, these guys own pretty much any other band of their genre (glam metal). At least in terms of musicianship. Lyrics are generally great too. I had part of their lyrics in my sig at one time too, lol.
