    Where's your head at? Oblivion...

Yesterday, I was playing Oblivion on my brothers Xbox 360, and my mum turned around and said the music in the game was making her sleepy. So. I went through my brothers playlists, and found the Tomb Raider soundtrack (yep, we are sad people... ). I picked "Where's your head at?" and at the same time, I had just run up the ramp in the arena to battle.

It was really cool! It was like watching A Knights Tale again! (except they used "We Will Rock You"). I thought it was amazing how the music you play can effect the game you are playing. It made the game a laugh, and I was really getting into the battle. I guess its like listening to club music doing exercise...

Anyways, I was wondering if music effects how you play a game, or if it changes the atmosphere of the game? I wonder what would happen if you play "I'm a Barbie Girl" along with Silent Hill... Just wondering lol...

For me music make a big impact on what I play. That's why I have such a hard time playing Castlevania, the music's not "real" enough. In MGS, the music was synthetic as well, but that was the atmosphere of the game, so it worked. In Bioshock, the old 50's music added an eerie element to the game.

I have changed the music, just to mess around. Imagine Halo 3 with Ave Maria. That was hilarious (Aaaave Maaariii *HEADSHOT*)

Halo 3! In multiplayer, no music plays, you're almost obligated to play music. But in other games, I just let the original music play, just because I'm anal about how I experience the game.
Life and death are strange things. When you look at your hands, do you think of the lives you give or take with them? Do you feel as if many lives rest upon your shoulders? Or do they end with your hand? Are you a saint? Are you a heathen? Of course not. Existence cannot be defined by such generalizations. We all live in a complex web of life, and affect it in our own ways. When we throw our stone into the water, how big will the ripples be?

What is truly more powerful and destructive; action, or idleness? Words, or silence?

Ya it does I play FF lll for the DS everyday and while I play it I listen to Disturbed most of the time. It really helps me get focused. And it helps the game alot because instead of that crapy back round music I have Diturbed.

I agree that msuic can have a big impact on how you play, I played oblivion without sound once and it made the game so boring.
Also played it with rock as i got a bit bored of the normal music and it made the game seem so much more up beat then the normal clasicaly music that plays.

Playing 1st person shooters makes loads of difference as well. For me it makes me react quicker (as long as i can still hear the SFX) as i was listening to faster music.

YES!!! Glad to find a thread on this. Whenever I play Halo, I put on my playlist titled "Rage" that has a mix of hardcore fast pace bands, and it pumps me up. Oblivion was very tiring music, and morrowind too. BUT, Jeremy Soule did a very good job creating the music, their both really instrumentally beautiful, but like I said before, tiring. And when I PvP on WoW, I listen to AS and Disturbed's new c.d. I played the entire Golden Sun series (okay, only 2 games) to one c.d. cause it fit it (These 5 Down) FF I and II Dawn of souls was played to living sacrifice, flaw, ra, breaking ben, and a few others. FFVII I play currently to Norma Jean, Underoath, Trust Company, and Spineshank. I was playing Zelda with Five.Bolt.Main., Evanescence, Linkin Park, and 10 Years. And when I play Fuzion Frenzy, I usually play party music.
Music and videogames, what could be better.
