are they still together? the last that i have heard is that they were doing some recordings on the bass, drums, and guitars. they said that they are looking for a new singer and thought about forever slave's vocals lady angelica. she has a good voice but still won't replace tonja. does not seem likely that their new album is coming out in 2007, but hey they all had a good run if this is truely the end of nightwish.

Nightwish is friggin' awesome! I only have their "Once" cd but like Georgiet said, all of their songs are great.

And unfortunately, I think the news is true. The band is breaking up with Tonja. I think it had something to do with the way she acted. I heard she was really b*tchy and they didn't want to tolerate that anymore. Which is bad because I didn't get into them until a little while ago...figures with my luck that as soon as I really get into this band, they have a member leaving. T.T

But "Ghost Love Score" is amazing! It really helps when you're writing an action scene or in an rp. XD

Well, I'd imagine this is fairly old news to most, but since this thread was just revived, I figured I'd mention that the band is still continuing on (albeit without Tarja). They released their first album with their new singer in September, and it's a pretty solid album. Granted, the vocals aren't the same, but they're admirable nonetheless, and it's definitely worth the buy. The first track is an epic, 13-minute song, and the instrumental track on it is actually turned out to be one of my favourite Nightwish songs, so yeah--definitely give it a listen.

Strange how I didn't like the stuff that Nightwish did when Tarja was in the group yet I like Tarja's solo stuff for some odd reason. Perhaps, I should give their older stuff a try...

Anyways, as for the new vocalist, Anette Olzon, her vocals are much different compared to Tarja's. I recall listening to "Bye Bye Beautiful" and "Amaranth" and it's much different then what it was before having Tarja in the group. Not saying it's a bad thing but their sound has definitely changed.

Nightwish are my favourite band. I've even met them several times and know them a little bit (my girlfriends dad has mastered all their albums).

Their sound has definatly changed, but i think its for the better. They are less restricted now with Anette as her voice can bring different things into the music whereas Tarjas was very operatic and very limited. And Anette is so much better live than Tarja. She actually moves about on stage

However I wouldnt classify them as Power metal any more. They look to be diversifying and we can only look forward to many more amazing albums from them. Plus Annette is just so much cooler.

Tarja had not spoken to the rest of the band for over a year and this is not a very good working condition. She threatened to quit any time and her, as well as her husband/manager, always demanded more and more money from venues and such, to name but a few of the problems.
