no one lays it down like the rza. 36 chambers completely changed hip-hop/rap forever. wu tang did for rap what nirvana did for rock - took it out of the hands of the big bloated 80's left overs, injected it with something real, and brought a raw fresh sound to a genre quickly becoming stale. and that crackly vinyl warmth that the rza brings into the beats and samples on that album - and the sheer mind boggling talent oozing off every single member of this self-made hip-hop super group. i'd like to think that 30 years down the road the wu-tang clan will long be remembered as the greatest rap group of all time.

DMX. His album "It's Dark and Hell is Hot" is one of the best albums ever. The was he melodically throws so much so fast at you yet it all comes together is amazing. From his beats to how he can perfectly explain how he'll take someone out you gotta respect it from someone who probably has done it before.

The only rap artist I like really is Eminem, I have for a number of years now. I don't like him as much as I used to but still listen to his music some times. I'm not a fan of rap at all besides that because it sounds silly to me.

For old Hip-Hop/Rap, Wu Tang Clan is good to listen to. GOOD lyrics with the whole Shaolin style of rap, the metaphors that these guys come up are just insanely good.

For more current stuff, I love listening to Young Jeezy, he's currently my favorite rapper. All of his CDs are outstandingly good, and yet he doesnt get a lot of airtime, but I could keep all of his stuff to myself if I needed to lol. His newest CD he worked on with his entourage group is called "Cold Summer," and if you like rap even the tiniest bit, you need to go find that CD now!

    Man........

Is this 2008 cause clicking on this thread makes me feel like I'm in a Impala 64' low rider. I can understand how some of yall feel about OLD skool but we in a whole other century.

Really who I think NOW is making their mark, is my nig Juelz Santana. He entertains his audience by spitting punchlines, what MANY others do. I mean his consistency, delivery, and swag is all what he brings on each and every track. ESPECIALLY when he is with Lil Wayne. To me, him, Wayne, and Fabulous is running this game as far as lyrics. Not to mention the slogan, AY!!!!!!!

Most of yall who posted on here stating that some rappers rap or think too high of themselves, right NOW, that's what it's all about. You get no rep just making videos w/ sexy women and a flashy lifestyle. You gotta emphasize it into a message. I mean yeah, the old skool paved the way, but it's a whole new era NOW. Even some of the old rappers yall speak on thats still rapping changed they swagger. Where are the west coast rappers at now ? I only give respect to 2 Pac(West side legend), Game(soon 2 B legend), Warren G, Nate Dogg, Ice Cube, Eazy-E(where is his love?), Outlawz, and Snoop Dogg.

As far as the mainstream of hip-hop, I hate it. All these damn weak ass club songs and female songs making rap seem soft. Gucci Mane, Diplomats, Fabulous, Lil Wayne, Webbie, Lil Boosie, Yo Gotti, Styles P, and Ludacris is in my list of who's holding it down. Especially the Dips. Man nobody as a whole is better than the Diplomats. They got Cam of course, J.R Writer, Juelz, Hell Rell, and many others. Them alone is killing anybody in a diss .

Most of TFF members here don't appreciate hip-hop currently like I do but I will say this. All of yall have to stop timetraveling and learn to fit in to someone you know your comfortable with because mainstream rap does SUCK AZZ ! I stick to the mixtape/ up in coming cds + people who spits punchlines(metaphors to dumb it down for yall). I don't know about yall but, I like FIGURING my rappers meanings instead of it PLAINLY rapped.

I think if Game still stuck with the Shady/Aftermath label, he would have been up there right now with Lil Wayne, Juelz Santana and everyone else that is killing the beats right now. I mean yeah, I have his Doctors Advocate CD and its very good, but my God, The Documentary just lit up the whole rap scene when that hit the stores. You know hes got the talent too, after being dropped from the label that was making a killing in the sales at that time to doing his own thing, and it hardly affected him. Plus, his 300 bars and running song is the most insane genius I have heard in ages! I get all giddy just listening to puting his emotions in the microphone on that song..

You got to admit right now, the rappers from the south have pretty much all the control in the game right now, I mean do they really have any artists that are less then simply great?

Psh. I've got too many favorite rappers. I listen to too many songs. It's pretty sad. Most consider me young, but an even greater amount consider me beyond my years. =/

I personally am not that big into rap but when I am in the mood for it I will put in some Dre, Little John, or some type of rap metal. Any song that I have actually liked usualy I hear on the radio and then it gets over played 10000000 times so I get burt out on it really fast.

Hear Hear man! I can't stand the radio no more. I used to listen to it a lot when I was in my teen years, but NOW, it's like your hooked on phonics tuning in to 96.3 or any hip-hop/R&B based station. I only listen/write/rap on instrumentals and mixtapes/cds of the artist I take interest in. I mean, as far as promoting the song or playing it by request is alright but do they have to make it all a broken record? It just annoys me by too far so thats why I don't listen to the radio anymore really.

Oh yeah. I forgot to mention that Yo Gotti is another artist in my list too. Him and Gucci got a collab mixtape out and it's sick.

Well, music is my passion, I'm dedicated to Hard Rock, but I do like rap. I would have to say Lil Wayne is my all time favorite. The guy is finally gettin hot on radios and he's been rappin for so long. He can outrap anyone, I don't care what you say, he know's how to play the game. I think Em is pretty good too, but now that his girl is gettin older, so is his tunes. Then there's Busta, a guy who takes music, molds it, and makes masterpieces. That guy is pure genius is the music world.

My favorite rap artist is the guy who either died or vanished, and never made another rap song again. A world without rap is a perfect world.

Hmmm, well although most rappers these days sing weird songs, there actually are some decent rappers who rap about real stuff thats happened in their lives. Thats why i tend to listen to:

    1) Eminem
    2) Scribe
    3) Timbaland (Rap/HipHop)
Because balding old men with ninja swords are so in right now

Now you see, i'm a metal head who despises anything pop/R&B/rap.

I am not here to biatch about how shit rap is.

Because there is one artist i like. And thats Immortal Technique. This is for the reason he 'raps'. He talks about how shit and messed up america is etc.

I second that notion. I can't just sit and listen to rap, or God forbid pop. I like 2Pac though and DMX. But that's about it. Rap isn't the same anymore.
