The thing I never really liked about the DBZ series were the endless episodes of dialogue between two characters, with some fighting intersperced maybe every five minutes, and then a flashback that they'd already flashbacked to at least 10 times before in the last 5 episodes...

To me, the movies took care of that problem. They had about 40 minutes, instead of 90 episodes, to tell a story, so they kept the important stuff-the action-and cut out most of the tedious, trivial crap-the dialogue. The movies were also, to my knowledge, the only place in which we got to hear swearing in the English dubbed versions, at least. What was that movie called? Super Android 13, or something? Anyway, that guy totally says "ass!" "You just got yo' asses kicked," or something. It had me and my friends giggling like school girls. Except not really. In any case, it semi makes up for all the times that, even in the uncut episodes, all Goku was allowed say was "Darnet!"

There was also, in that same movie, the classic ending of Vegeta and Piccolo sitting on a little island. "Is it over yet?" "Not until the fish jumps!" *splash* "...it's over." It's like "what?" Could that exchange possibly have been in the original, or did the translators decide they needed to add some dialogue there, I wonder?

Anyways, I forgot what else I was going to say... Oh yes. Anyone who is of the DBZ club must love DBZ. If you do not love DBZ as much as the minimum requirement is (a lot) I will have to kill you.... This is serious business, kids. The internet is serious business.

    I did not. Sorry.

However, I was just thinking of something the other day. I do not remember if it was touched on before, but...

...Who was the most developed character of DBZ? I would say it was Vegeta. He has a lot of changes throughout the series. He starts out as a completely ruthless, arrogant bastard, whom we may or may not hate, and slowly works his way in as one of the good guys; but it's not even as simple as that. During the Namek Saga, we learn he was the prince of a planet that a tyrant destroyed, and that he was forced to work under him for most his life. During his last few moments before that tyrant kills him, he is seen pleading telling Goku all about this, and pleading to him to defeat that tyrant for all Saiyans, and he even comes to tears over it. Then, although he was unified with Goku in that, he is still an arrogant bastard, and scares the crap out of everyone else from Namek that is brought back from the dead with him.

From here, his thing is that he cannot stand the fact that he is not as strong as Goku, and that Goku became a Super Saiyan before he did, so trains several years to get to Goku's level. When he comes back to Earth, however, he meets a girl, and, although he doesn't seem to like her at first, there is something between them, and they end up together, with a child. Now, he's fighting along side the very people he had fought against for so long. They defeat the enemy, and peace returns for a time. However, his nemesis, Goku, is dead, so he doesn't get the chance to prove himself against him, until years later, living with his family, and becoming "soft." When Goku returns for a tournament, Vegeta denounces his new life, and does everything in his power to get Goku to fight him. He even sides with the ultimate evil in the universe (at that point) to accomplish this. However, we find that even though he should be a slave to this ultimate evil, Vegeta still has enough will power to disobey a direct order, in order to continue his fight with his arch nemesis.

Eventually, Vegeta realizes that the universe is more important than his feud, and he sacrifices himself for the cause; however, he still holds a grudge against Kakarot for a time. It's not until the very end that he decides that it's okay for Goku to be stronger than he is, because Goku is the universe's true hero, or something, and he puts the grudge behind him.

So the character of Vegeta does a full 180, almost. Although I didn't see most of DBGT. I also didn't see all of Piccolo's story either, or Tien's, and I know they had some fairly substantial changes in character, too (although Tien was probably never near as big a villain as the other two.)

So now, we can either discuss this, or we can let the DBZ "club" drop into oblivion again. Or, you can bring up something else entirely, and ignore this big long post. *shrug*

I like the DragonBall Z video games.

I also love how much of a different kind of show DB was to DBZ. Wow, what a transformation, plotwise.

It was the anime that got me into anime.

I have Dragonball Z Budokai 1 and 2 on PS2. They are awesome games. I haven't played them much lately but I love playing in the Tournaments. I didn't like how the first one was in Japanese but oh well. I can't stand Goku's Japanese voice, I think it sounds a bit girly lol. I wish they would show another DBZ marathon on Toonami. The last one here was about two or three years ago now.

Whatever happened to the live action movie they were going to make? Did they just not bother with it after all?

According to this thread, Fox has reacquired the rights to the site "Dragonballz-movie.com." And it was posted on April 4th... so that's fairly recent. Although last I'd heard, people didn't expect a movie until some time around 2013 or 2014, or something. Or maybe just in 2010.

I like how everyone is quoting that post when it was made 5 years ago, and that account has since been deleted. (It was actually Anarchy/Lover Boy, before he left on one of his hiatuses.) It's funny how they saved that post, and lost the original opening post somehow. I don't know how it works, though.

I had to laugh at that, too. Though that actually wasn't by Anarchy--that was the first post to ever start the club (by "Son Goku;" unless that person later returned under the guise of "Anarchy")--nice way to start, no? But that brings up memories of how old we are--how he only posted in the club like five times and disappeared a month later. And then we wandered around leader-less for a few months until I officially took the helm and led us into glory...or not >_<. The RP....oh, the RP. We really should try doing it one day, just for fun...or something.

And as for the DBZ movie, who knows if/when it will ever get released. We're already talking about dates that are almost 10 years away, which isn't a good sign of things to come. The same is true of the Evangelion movie, for that matter: I'm beginning to doubt whether or not that will ever get made, too. And WETA's doing the special effects for that movie, so I'm excited (it may end up being its one redeeming feature ["Cube Angel" instead of "Ramiel?" "Kate Rose" instead of "Misato Katsuragi?" Why?). But I guess we just have to wait with crossed fingers and maybe one day we'll actually get a movie.

I'm actually pretty sure that Son Goku had made a valid first post, and that Anarchy posted that "I like pie" comment. I clearly remember his name with that post. Plus, I doubt the moderators of that time would have allowed a club to start with a first post like that. Heh.

On the RP: PM me, buddy Or go post on my board. Maybe we could set something up there. If you ever get free time. I think I probably have plenty of it, right now (although I could be doing homework, much of the time... oh well. Heh.)

On Cell: He still has one of my most favorite lines ever. After he gets punched by Gohan, when Gohan has become a Super Saiyan Level 2, he says something about if he's the most powerful being in the universe... "Then why am I so... DAMAGED?!" DAMAGED?! lol! What the hell? Oh well.

Oh yes. My favorite character... hmm... That's a tough one. Sometimes it's Krillin, because he's the one I can relate to the most, and he's funny; Master Roshi, because he's the most awesome dirty old man ever; and Trunks, because... I dunno, really. I just like characters that aren't the main character, but are still really cool and bad ass. They also can't be straight up "I'm powerful and violent!" like Vegeta (although I like Vegeta a lot, too.) I dunno... maybe it's something about his character design, too? Like his sword and his clothes. Cosmetics. *shrug*

I think I came to the conclusion a while ago that Trunks was probably my favorite character, though.

The DBZ Uncut is on Adult Swim now, everyday at 10:30 pm or 9:30 pm I think Eastern (GMT -4). I think it still airs, not sure.

I wish the uncut version of Dragonball Z was on Cartoon Network here in Australia! Ugh! I don't think they have showed it yet...or have they? I would love to see it! I have been told it's a lot better than the Funimation version! I hope they put it on here soon if they haven't already because they're showing boring stuff on Adult Swim currently.

DBZ! I luvz. I wasn't too fond of GT, though. I liked the two oldest series. And the Cell and Bubude (sp?!) series. Gohan as a teen? Weee-ard. Trunk was my favourite character. When he was all grown up and shit. You've gotta be awesome to be a guy with pink hair and still get away with it without being called gay.

Yeah, Dragonball Z is an awesome show. My favourite characters would have to be Trunks and Vegeta. Vegeta is such a cold hearted person lol. I think deep down he does care for those close to him..aww! He's a really strong Saiyan and tries his best in a fight. Trunks is awesome too. Gohan is a strong character, it's a shame he gave away fighting just because of ChiChi. He could have become the strongest saiyan ever! Goke is humorous, just because he thinks about food a lot of the time. He also acts quite stupid a lot of the time.

    Hmm...

    Goku and Trucks were awesome.

Bulma was cool because she was so real... When Trunks was a kid and she smoked... yeah, for some reason I found that hilarious. Then again, I find most things hilarious. =\

I used to watch them when I was younger but then this thing came in...Pokemon I think was the name and I started to watch it a little bit more and I forgot about DragonBall Z. I liked it but not that much, just one thumb up. I dont watch it anymore or any other cartoons.

I guess I should post my reasons for liking those characters^^
Teen Gohan(SSJ2): Well, when he was a kid, I was amazed at his ability to fight when he would get mad.So, when I saw him go SSJ2 on Cell, my jaw dropped and I instantly went to the store near me and bought a shirt of him going SSJ2...
Majin Vegeta: I always expected him to go evil. Even when he was a kid(Shown in Bardock: The Father of Goku), he was really strong..Then, later, he even destroyed a planet with a simple focused finger beam...But when he met Goku and Bulma, he started getting soft(although he tries not to act it)...So I was hoping for him to go evil again and actually show Goku up..but he blew himself up once again for the destruction of Fat Buu.(which didnt work)
Gotenks(SSJ): He is hilarious and he reminds me of me and my friend Tyler.90% of the time, we are smart alecs who think we are stronger than what we actually are...I guess that's what made Gotenks lose: His Ego/Pride..He also reminds me more of Vegeta than anything*thinks* hmm..probably the Trunks part of it kicking in...They should try the Potaru Earrings..

In my younger days I use to watch DBZ all the time, I had a few episodes from the Majin Buu saga and DB GT on my PC but they disapeared I quite enjoyed it during the end of the Freiza and to the Cell saga but after I moved on and skimmed through the Buu saga.

Personally I think the show had a lot of potential with the story and characters but Goku was too much of a Hippie fighting for good, Vegeta was the man but it's kind of stupid how they made him always "just barely" lose to Goku. Trunks what's pretty cool too, Gohan was better than Goku as well.

I think it would of been better if it was too "cheesy nice", fights are boring if they're for the good of the Earth. I am not saying its bad but Goku was a hippie his whole personallity was annoying, also the dubs didn't help. Nice anime but got worse after the Cell saga, havent seen Dragonball or all of DBGT yet.

I like Piccolo, Hercule and Recoome. Those guys are awesome.

I think that DBZ had the best battle out of any of the animes that I have watched. The battle with Piccolo and Android #17.

Woow! Piccolo lol. He was a great character, he was very powerful and always wanted to help fight battles. I really enjoyed the Cell Saga, I thought it went on for quite a long time though. It was awesome how Gohan ended up defeating him, it was great to watch. The Majin Buu Saga was pretty cool as well, you got to see Vegeta at his finest.

Haha, I liked Hercule. What an idiot, he would always exaggerate about how strong he was. I liked it how Cell flicked him into some rocks, what a funny sight. I felt sorry for Videl at times because she didn't realise how weak her father really was lol. She was probably stronger than him. I thought it was nice how Hercule looked after that puppy during the Majin Buu Saga, that was pretty sweet.

Master Roshi cracked me up because all he ever seemed to be interested in was porn. You would always see him reading dirty magazines lol. I remember there was one episode where they were all at his house and Future Trunks was talking to them about something and all he cared about was the women exercising on television.

I need to start watching DBZ again. I miss watching it! I have a few videos of it somewhere, I want to get all the DVD's sometime though so that should be cool.

Well the Buu Saga should have been Gohan as the hero, and while he was for a small period, it was still about Goku. Goku was dead and he was fine with that, I was fine with it, Gohan was a better fighter in some cases as opposed to Goku. Goku was too soft a lot of times, and Gohan was sort of, he was definitely more willing to end a fight than Goku was. Both enjoyed the fight and Gohan made the mistake of letting Cell self-destruct, but in the end if Gohan had not be forced into doing schooling and continued his training, he would have equal to Goku's power since he already had a head start.

Gohan would have been definitely stronger than Vegeta who could not find SSj3 and required helped to get even remotely strong enough. Goku and Gohan are clearly the strongest fighters. Though it is unfortunate that Krillin and Piccolo could not follow in their rise to power, because they all got knocked aside because their powers were too weak.
Curious? There's no limits but your own imagination.

Odin: I don't get what it would've been about if it hadn't been about the good of something, however. Maybe you wanted a show based solely around the bad guys, or something? That might've been cool. However, in my opinion, Goku kicked ass, hippie or not. He had a certain campiness about him that was funny. "Darnet! I don't know how to swear!" Although that was just the English translation.

Each to his own, really. A DBZ without Goku probably would've been fine, too. Unless the bad guys always won; that might be too dark for my tastes. Hmm....

I also liked Yamcha. Mostly in Dragon Ball, though, when he made a difference in existing. Puar and Oolong were also the coolest pointless characters ever. Was Puar a guy or a girl? Heh. Choutzu was also good for needlessly sacrificing himself every once in a while. That was his sole contribution. That and losing to Krillin in the very first series he was in, I think. Or did he do anything else in Dragon Ball? I guess I can't really say that, seeing as I didn't see Dragon Ball in its entirety...

Piccolo was The Namek, I'll give him that. He was pretty bad ass.
