None of us here have disrespected Order in the way you seem to think we have. Sure, there is a difference of opinion, but we are merely stating facts. If he takes offense to it, he should get off the internet.

Dranzer put it right. If she had done anything back to them, she might have had criminal charges against her as well. There's self defense, then there's anger. Being there's a fine line between the two, it would have been better that she stayed 'silent'. She did try to diffuse the situation. Ignore it in a sense. Those guys just wouldn't give it up though. Sad. Also, who knows. If the lady acted out, Do you think the boys would have taken a more defensive stance as well? They could have gotten more aggressive. You never know. Be thankful that no one was physically injured.

The lady questions why people are supporting her. The answer is simple. I think a lot of us want to show that there are loving people in the world. We want to help her as much as we can. Everyone was saddened/touched by the video. No one would wish this kind of behavior on anyone.

One thing that I love. Southwest donated that trip to Disneyland. It's something I would have expected from the airline that has a big heart as their logo. I love Southwest even more now. Just thought I'd point that out

Back to the OP. If there's one punishment these guys should get, it's just knowing that if this does happen again and they're the instigators, I just want them to know that next time, the world won't be so easy on them. And the world doesn't even have to do anything. I think it's their parents that they have to be afraid of most. it isn't about capital or corporal punishment. They're still young. Community Service or something along those lines would be good for them. Give them a taste of what the world is like. I don't really see community service as a bad punishment though. I love helping the community.

Now, if this was in the morning that is a little more tricky. You can't dump them off on the street. But you can easily get all of their names (my drivers were required by law to be able to identify every student who got on the bus) and had them all suspended that day.

A lot of times I think they can't really perceive whats going on behind them on the bus because they're paying attention to driving. Also, I think at some parts of the video I couldn't hear the elderly woman even. It seemed like they were being pretty quiet compared to the rest of the crowd, yet the microphone (since they were close) picked up what they were saying to her pretty clearly.

But yeah, I wondered the same thing as I watched it.

Odd, I didn't think of it when I watched it, but Just remembering to when I used to take a bus (long time ago), I remember the bus driver yelling when we started to act up. I guess that's where the role of the bus monitor comes in (RK speculation TIME!!!). Instead of the driver having to constantly check on students all the time, they hired a bus monitor to do it. That way the bus driver can focus on the road and not get distracted. It makes sense if you look at it that way. On the other end, if the driver noticed there was something happening to the MONITOR, they should have said something. Yelled if anything. I remember when the bus driver yelled, we all shut the **** up really quick. She was nice, but man, she could yell.

There must have been some REALLY INTERESTING traffic for the driver to not notice anything.

I don't necessarily think it's oversensitivity as a touch of hypocrisy on his/their part and it riled me. Still does.

Those kids are idiots. But then, they're just saying the things that most people reserve for gossip. I had a teacher like that lady in middle school, and got to hear this sort of shit all the time when she out of an earshot. That was because she was older.
