I'm not a member of the CoK family? I'm a sad panda.

I need to get some Sims games, they look pretty cool. I've never actually played, but I've seen 'em played. And I already packed up my damn PS2, so I'd have to get one for the computer ... what are the best ones for PC?

I think I'm gonna finish up that Civ III game tonight. The only problem with it is that it's difficult to use IMs while you're playing.

I keep hearing about sims, but I thought it was a kiddie game. Personally I want to get X-men 3. I think that will be an awesome game. Lots of killing. I like killing^^. I have stopped playing FF7 now. My add set in, and i am thristy for new blood.Which is the main reason I never get through it in one sitting.

I have played Castelvania on the comp. before. Infact I don't have it in any other form. It was really cool, and I got everything. I almost got the best ending in the game. I got the chick respectnig my dumb descisions instead. I liked turning into a wolf though. I am now cp: castlevania symphony of the night on my computer.

You havent been here from the start ^^ the majority of us have been here for years upon years upon years and we all know each other, on and off site. You are part of the CoK family now, but not as official as a whole heap of other users.

I *will* make a new CoK family in a different scenario, and, I want to make this one as accurate as I can. So, got any recent photos you can link me to? any of you?

..I already know Scorp and Cheese are together, so thats one less relationship to sort out, hehe.

Shit, I left this reply box open since a few hours ago.. XD forgot to hit submit cuz um.. my excuse is this alcohol, yeah, honest.

The one in my profile is from two and a half years ago, that's one of the most recent I have. It'll work.

I still haven't worked on my Civ III game again yet, but since we're not going fishing now (it's raining, dammit!), I'll probably start that up again.

For some reason, neither of my drives will play it. I have to put the disk in my secondary drive to start it up, then right before it starts the game it'll tell me it can't read the disk, so I put it in the primary drive and play. But I can't start out with it in the main drive, because it'll just whirr and whirr instead of loading it up.

Did anyone else start giggling like a school girl as soon as they saw "Dawezy Cok"? Or was that just me?

I look like such a hippie! That makes me chuckle.

    Good job D.

I started another file on the origional KOTOR a few days ago and have been thrashing it at a pretty good pace (compared to my usual sloth like pace anyways). I haven't decided on an alignment path for this chatacter yet. I've yet to go down the good road, granted, but the evil is just so tempting.

Drunken vacuum cleaner salesman? Just for that, I should say no.

But... because you know what a complete sentence is, we may as well give you a shot, right? I say one of our wonderul newborn cultists needs to come up with a fresh topic for us to discuss. It's not that Sims 2 isn't entertaining for all of us, but I want one of them to take us old school. Go for it. Whee! And such.

Cesar. Thank you. The vacuum cleaner salesman thing was more of a joke.

Bear with me. Its been a long day and I am quite tired...

As far as the Sims 2. Don't even get me started. That game is like crack to me. Not so much the gameplay, but the home and land building. I have used cheat codes just to stock up an assload of money and just build houses. I should be an interior designer or something. LOL

    Anywhooz....yeah. New topic....

Well, how about this. What was the defining moment in your life that proved to you that you would be a gamer for life? Was it a particular title, a certain experience with a friend, or something as simple as a console design? Tell us...

As for me, I go back to about, well, 1992 or so. I believe I was about 9 or 10 at the time. I had played the first 2 Mario Bros. games quite a bit and had enjoyed them immensely. Part 2 more than the original. Then, a little title called Mario 3 came out, and the world went berserk. Well, my 10 year old world did. Kids were talking about the game at school for weeks after it was released, but I had never gotten the chance to see it or play it yet. I really wasn't what you would call a spoiled kid, regardless of the fact that I was an only child. But I digress...

One day on a routine trip to the local Target store with my parents, my stepfather decided that he would get me a present. I had just brought home a solid report card, so I guess I deserved one. LOL. Anyways, long story short, I had gotten a copy of Mario 3. I swear, I thought I could fly. I was just ecstatic...

I got home and immediately popped that mofo in my NES and experienced a whole new world of gaming. I was a casual gamer before that, but that changed everything for me. The colors, the textures, the freakin raccoon tails, everything. I was hooked. I played that game nonstop for like 3 months straight. Every day before school, and every day after school. I could not get enough.

From that day forward, I knew there was no letting go. I'm stuck with it. Gaming will never leave me, and I believe that Mr. Mario is mostly responsible for it. For that, I am grateful.

You are a fucking genius. How have we NEVER discussed this here?

Well, as far as the defining moment which proved me to be a gamer, I'd have to go with the day I beat Super Mario Bros. for the NES. It was 1990, before many people here even knew what a videogame was. I was four years old at the time. It took me around three and a half hours. I know that may seem slow to a lot of you, but keep in mind the fact that I was four at the time. Seriously.

But even so, I don't know if that's what really solidified me as a gamer for life.

I believe that goes back to the glorious title known as Uniracers for the SNES. I actually have scars from the blisters that game gave me. I would play it for eight hours at a time, every single day all summer long. Nonstop. Over and over and over. I got everyone in the neighborhood into that game. I held records that were supposed to be impossible to even hold. What's even better is that even with all of that playtime, it still took me FOUR YEARS TO BEAT IT.

    That's dedication.

The Anti-Uni can suck my left nut, by the way. Fucking cheater.

Hahaha....omg now THAT is a ****ing topic.

Commodore 64....yep, been playing games since then. Burgertime anyone? Had to have the extra RAM cartridge to play it, but hey, it was fun anyway. American Hot Rod....ahhh, the joys of 1988 or so...yeah, been playing them that long. Played the shit out of River Raid on that poor computer. Then we got an NES...I played till I was told to get outside or be grounded from it completely. Oops. <.<; Mario 3 hit, I played it non-stop till I beat it. Then the SNES hit. Mario World owned me for so long.

Nostalgia road trip ahead, I think I'll go ahead and stop there. Yeah, I basically started playing and never stopped. XD

    LOAD, "RIVER RAID", 8,

    Hell if I remember if that's right, but damnit, I know it's close. ;;

Scrap Civ III, get Civ IV. Sure it's published by 2KGames, but it shows the 3rd one for the joke that it is.

Welcome Plastik man, excellent topic idea! We suck for not thinking of it before!
My first game was when I was 3 or so on the computer (some dos model): Ernie's Big Splash (bwahaha). After that it was probably Shining Force that did it for me. That coupled with Doom and various Lucas Arts point and click titles. Night Of the Tentacle owns you!

Aye, I approve of the Plastic one joining us.

But shit, thats quite a topic to address isnt it? heh.. hmm..

I reckon that, the day I put Pitfall (or was it Bombjack? ehh..) into that old Atari 2600 is what opened my eyes and started my addiction.. that was back in around 1989? 90 maybe, I cant remember excatly how long I had that thing but it was quite some time until SEGA released the old Master System - which I instantly fell in love with.

    Cant beat the Hedgehog yo.

    PITFALL!!!

I heart people who know what that game is. You'd be surprised at how many do not.

I heart Sonic the hedgehog as well.

Typically I wasn't a born gamer per se. I loved my Pitfall, Super Mario Bros games (1,2,3) and then when we got our Genisis I fell in love with Sonic. I vaugely remember some sort of code you could use to make yourself invincible. Up down up down left right left right a b a b???? Or is that a different one? I have no farking clue. But it was great!

I wasn't very skilled, I think I could make it up to Labrynth Zone (I think that's what it was called, the water world where you had to suck in balls of air) and then I'd get smoked by something or other. Then I kinda went away from the gaming aspect.

So fast-forward quite a bit, and I'm now out on my own. I was living with friends, and at the time I didn't have alot of money. They had a PSX and had Spyro the Dragon and Final Fantasy VIII. I scoffed at the FF game (my cousin played them RELIGIOUSLY from the first one and whatever, I used to tease him about it) and started playing Spyro.

Now you can only go around torching sheep and whatnot before it gets really lame. So I looked at VIII. I had never played a ff game before in my life, so I had no idea what to expect. I picked it up, and got hooked right off the bat to the story.

That had never happened to me in a game before! All the other games I had played were those objective games where you just go from level to level. This was an actual story! I think I played it for 6 hours straight without saving, because I wasn't sure how the memory card worked, and didn't want to overwrite something that my roommates had saved.

It was total "gotta see what happens next! Gotta see what happens next!" So yeah. VIII is still my fave FF game, probrably because it's the first one I've played. I've played more since then, and they were good, but didn't grab me the way it did.

So yeah. I guess that's my defining moment. Craptastic story, eh?

I was born a Gamer, no doubt and yes, I know what Pitfall is TYWM. Used to have it on me Atari...I hope Ark gets in here..I'm about to feel REALLY old. Ahem. My first video game was back in 1978. We had..omg a home port PONG Gaming system. It wasn't bought for me, heck i wasn't even 2 yet and my sister was in the oven cooking. My parents got it for them XD Next up was a TRS-80 we got in..83? ( in between the two i played any arcade i could my whine a quarter my way into lol ) SOme good games ther..but man you had to Program some of them in BASIC ( Zaxxon for example..w00t for caseete tape games lol ) But it also used cartridges for some. THEN we got an Atari 7800. Still I played as many arcade games as i could. Had MUCH LOVE for the vector graphics Star Wars game lol then about 1990....NINTENDO. And that pretty much set the stage lol From Mario ( i never played as mario, LUIGI pwns ) to FF1 to TMNT to MEGAMAN 2. and so forth down this list SNES -> N64 -> PSX -> PS2

Defining moment? I dunno man, I used to skip alot of Middle School just to play NES for 8hrs a day with my crony Shadow ( from SU not here ) HE taught me all i know..I remember the summer i graduated. I stayed a MONTH at his place..and did nothing but play SFII: Turbo ( thus why i can pwn at it or just about any SF game...cept SF1...ARGH! )
there's not just ONE moment in my gaming career that says 'This is where my addiction came from' it's always been there. Back of my mind, hell even right now. "Go play PS2 or emulator" so i dunno..I wa sjust born this way i guess lol

    In other news.
I officially proposed to CheeseVixen last night!
    She said YES! ^^
So taht means...come to our wedding if you can Senior Members ( and tiff..she HAS to be there...as does Ark XD )
    More details to come!

My gaming career started when I was about 6. I first started on Atari, with games such as frogger. Moved up to nentendo, and fell in love mario. Then went to snes an fell in a deeper love with starfox an mortal kombat. This all being in a short time span. I stopped for a while in my teens, and basically played nothing but games with racing an killing.Such as twisted metal, grand Turismo, and Tekken. I was later introduced to FF by my now current fiancee. I loved the plot so much that I am chewing through FF 7, and FF 10. As well as some KH on the side. I still keep to my roots though, and often play wrestling an MK.

I don't really consider myself a gamer. I have a feeling I am on the verge of being a gamer. It strikes my interest, and gets my addiction side going. However, killing button masher games have turned my brain to mush when it comes to palatable games. Such as final fantasy. Any real plot an I have to slowely go through the game, but I catch on quickly. I think I have a knack for RPG's. As a born killer I must always give myself a healthy dose of both.

Ah, but therein lies your mistruth.

Just because you haven't always immersed yourself in more "palatable" games, as you say, doesn't mean you're not already a gamer. Racing games, war simulations, wrestling titles... all of these are more than good enough to qualify one as a gamer. You may have had a nice little break through your teenage years, but I don't think that the fact that you're just now getting into RPGs means you're just now becoming a gamer.

From what I'm reading, it seems to me like you've really been a solid gamer since you were ten or so. ^_^

    Currently Playing:
Final Fantasy IX (PSX via PS2) - 2/3 through disc two on my current file. I've still spent more time helping my sister along with hers, so I haven't done much actual playing myself. She's almost done with disc three now. It's fun.

    Need for Speed: Most Wanted (PC) - well, it's a PC game that doesn't require internet access, meaning I can play it without getting stupid connection errors. Fun! That, and reading through CV's post makes me want to play a good racing title now. ^_^;;

Super Mario Bros. (NES via ROM) - the Oldschool Flavor of the Day.

And now, to veer off our current topic and respond to a couple of recent posts, Dawezy, that's the best birthday present a man could buy himself. When I saw Qix on that list, I just about flipped out. Talk about addictive.

And to Scorp, congratufuckinglations, mate! Of course, I made my RSVP for the wedding a couple months ago, when it was still just a discussion and not necessarily an official thing. As soon as the two of you pick out a date, I'll be sure to be there. Besides, I promised Tiffany I'd dance with her.

Yay! I am a gamer then!!! By "break" I meant I stopped playing the old school snse, nitendo, and atari for ahwile.Though now we have every snes game ever made on the computer so I am currently back in action.

Can you guess what I am currently playing????
    Spoiler:
    Mortal Kombat

ps: I played n an snes before I even knew what an emulation was. I learned that but months ago. SO BAH!

    Gee, I've missed a lot, haven't I?

    A winner is me.

    And that's exactly it.

I played that game (Pro Wrestling) almost religiously when I was a lad, to go along with SMB 1,2, and 3. Not to mention the gold cartridge Legend of Zelda and Adventure of Link. I actually played Adventure of Link first, and even to this day, I still like it more. Man, talking about this brings back a lot of memories. Star Tropics, too, was another game that I played constantly. It's funny, because as often as I played them, I didn't manage to beat them all. That was mainly because they stopped working.

I suppose what defined me as a gamer was when I came to the realization that my NES collection was up to about 40+ games. Even to this day, I still have every single one of them. Even the cardboard boxes for some of them. What I find weird is that compared to some of my friends, I was actually a fairly casual gamer. For example, I only had an NES growing up. It wasn't until
    Spoiler:
    emulation

that I played SNES games on a regular basis. I always went over to a friend's house when I was young to get in a fix of FF4 or Battletoads vs. Double Dragon .

Casual or not, I still ****ing kill the games of today. XD I scoff at the young people who find Ocarina of Time to be difficult. Cheeches.

Hi! I'd like to join this club here.

But first!... Let us see if Im even qualified...

Ok... Am I Evil enough? Well, I love to tell Sean to STFU. Watch my friend burn himself.. And do things to confuse people.

Am I Old skool enough? Well, Im not a grampa like scorpion.. So I dont remember the days when mario battled against DK and it only cost a nickle... And Im not like Dawezy, so I dont sit around with a beer in my hand, watching hentai and playing an emulator all day... BUT! I have beaten the original Star Ocean.. or... for that matter... I know that there IS a star ocean before the PS2 came out.. that right there already makes me more inteligent than 95% of the gamers today!

...how about you get the hell out?

DENIED no membership for you. Like, ever. Thats a excellent way to grab the wrong attention around here, especially in our Cult. Unless Loco decides to say otherwise you have no place in this thread

Oh, and the double post wasnt too smart either lol.

    Moving on tho.

Grats to the Scorp and Cheese for hooking up ^_^ just take it easy there, I know your old hip cant take too much pressure there Scorp XD. Ahem. I whipped that Taito Legends (vol 2) into the PS2 and played a few games to wake up a bit and I stumbled upon something that created a grin from ear to ear.. on Dungeon Magic around the end of the 3rd dungeon I believe it was -> the level boss was none other then.

    "Dark Knight"

Heh heh. And he was so identical to Cecil in his black-clad armour and hugeass sword, and surely enough he kicked the shit out of me. Must've used around 10 credits trying to beat him, give or take a few.. its actually quite alot of fun these old games yo.

    CP: FF11, Taito Legends.
    SPOILER!!:

    ^_^

    What double post?

According to Bahlmung's new member thread... it's someone you and I are supposed to remember? So let's give the kid a chance to tell us who he (or she?) is before we go stamping the massive DENIED stamp on his forehead.

At this point, though, I'm leaning toward Dawezy's opinion on the matter.

He's right I did double post. Though Im not sure how the hell it happened.. I didnt even see it. I started to post the first half of that, then went back to the first post to read over cesars post better and make sure I wouldn't miss any of the "qualifications," then I realised that I hadn't copied any of it.. went back to post it all over again.. my post wasnt even there.. or maybe it was and I was way too tired to realise it.. But umm, Im way too lazy to purposely double post the exact same thing with different words. Thats a lot of work.

Anywho, edited out the first half anyways. Nor am I sure where you're getting mad Dawezy. Hentai IS your hobby, 90% of the pictures you've taken of yourself (that at least shows your room) always has at least one beer can =p, and I have no where near as much knowledge of you or daraugon on old skool games. So dont get mad man, if you took it the wrong way I hope this clears it up for you.

As for who I am.. I thought with the clues I left that cesar, whos always loved to figure things out, would have had this pinned by now.

    Clues:
    1) Knows Cesars name.
    2) Likes to tell Sean to stfu.
    3) IMs Dawezy the same day a mysterious person shows up on TFF.
    4) Loves Black Mages
    5) Favorite FF = FF IX

Besides #3, all were left just for you cesar! Plus, can't you check my IP with the others on the board?... Or maybe my old account got deleted.. I wish I knew, can't even remember my PW though, so Im clueless if its deleted, frozen, or what.

Anywho, sorry for upsetting you guys SO much. Just wanted to have a little bit of fun with out disturbing the peace of TFF.. didn't know that my comments would offend you Dawezy =p. But Im back, for now...

    You're mage - Vivi
