Well doubts arise because of the human rights abuse that goes on in Turkey and the political corruption. I'm not saying there is no corruption in any other country, it just seems to be more blatant in Turkey. If Turkey does join the EU then a good thing is that Turkey will have to change a few aspects of the country to be in accordance with the EU regulations (EDIT: state treatment of individuals is what I'm referring to as a better than that in Turkey). Still, Turkey won't be joining until 2007 I'll have to see how they change both socially and economically.
