New Details on Ys VIII Lacrimosa of Dana

Falcom recently announced the latest in the long running Ys franchise with the eighth installment. They went into greater detail on the story set for players interested in the new game. The prologue they explain has series character Adol traveling on the Lombardia, a passenger ship, headed to Eresia from Xandria. However, the ship is attack and Adol falls overboard waking up on Seiren Island, a cursed island.

Stuck on the island for now, he helps out the inhabitants, building a base and is having dreams of a girl.

They said for the combat that they are going to continue their focus on the direction that they had from recent Ys games like Celceta. There is going to be new jump attacks, ways to combine attacks with other party members and new elements that they did not want to go into yet. They also said the Seiren Island is getting more focus as an environment and tone than they have done in past games. New characters will be announced after the new year.
