Where do you work that requires you to be open on Christmas day? The only things that operate here on Christmas are essential services, and transport (buses etc. on a reduced schedule). You're not required to work on Boxing Day or New Years Day, or "the day after New Years Day", although you get extra pay and holidays if you do so lots of people do unless they've left town.

I'm house swapping with my parents: I'm driving down to their place a few days before, and they're driving up to mine, and we're meeting half way for lunch (it's like an 8 hour drive). So they're actually having Christmas alone, which suits them, and I'm having Christmas with my girlfriend's family.
