Has anybody ever seen this easter egg in FF IX? Apparently there's a "newly discovered side quest" that's been found thirteen years after the game's release. Here's a video of it in full:



and here's the conditions to unlock all the family members (Disk 4 spoilers) :

The battle with Nova Dragon.
The fight with Maliris.
The flashback of Alexander.
The scene where Zidane talks to himself.
The flashback of Dagger on the boat.
The scene with the giant eye in the sky.
The battle with Tiamat.
The scene with the two planets colliding.
The scene where Quina thinks he/she is drowning.
The scene where Garland talks about memories.
The battle with Kraken.
The scene about Gaia's birth.
The battle with Lich.
The scene where Garland talks about the beginning and the Crystal.
The scene where the party enters the Crystal World.
The battle with Deathguise.

I've seen the part with Zenero and Benero talking, but never followed up with it...and apparently most haven't either until recently.

When you were looking at this and I was looking over your shoulder, my first thought was "Huh? Is FFIX getting a rerelease with new material?" But then I saw what it was and was like "Oh." If this is a "side quest," it is of a most disappointing kind. Silly nerds using hyperbole."Go back to this screen a bunch of times and watch the same scene with slightly different dialogue play out repeatedly!" What about all them 100%ers who never found this, since it's newly discovered or whatever? Their title's ****ed. I think I MAY have seen this scene before though, and was disappointed that all I got was a Protect Ring. "After 13 years and you never told anyone?!" I suppose I assumed someone else had already found it We're sure this wasn't in any gamefaqs player's guide before though? Hrmmmm.... HRMMMMMMM..... Anyhoo...

I didn't know there were THAT many of them. I just thought it was weird that there was a third one when I played it, like an extra -ero that didn't get as much screen time during the earlier scenes. And their names were so similar that I thought nothing of it and just played it off as such.

Dragonheart's playing through Final Fantasy IX currently. Maybe after seeing this she will try to experience it in person.

I've been wanting to play FFIX again just because and DH's Blog post made me want to play it more and now this new side quest that is so vague I want to do it.

and sadly my Emulator or Rom is messed up and I can't do the fight scene with Steiner as Zidane, Cinna and Blank. I may have to reinstall all the plugins and emulator or rip the ISO's off of my FFIX discs for fresh isos or maybe both.

I agree that with this....I kinda want to look at these 100% completion games and see if they did indeed do this lol.
