Wendy had watched a strange girl with white eyes defeat the strange man who had threatened her - within a few seconds. She watched, astonished by the strength of the girl, how she approached Wendy and touched her Ice Shield.
Although she was a little afraid of the pretty, yet frightening girl, she didn't move. She wanted to, but she couldn't.
When the strange girl touched her shield, Wendy suddenly felt a flow of Mana floating through her. It was like a big wave crushing into her body. Her knees softened and she stumbled. But the shield was much stronger now. Wendy was attacked by several men dressed like the one the girl punched - they didn't stand a chance.
"Oh how I hate it," Wendy thought. "This isn't my power. I'm just borrowing it. I feel so... weak."
She didn't move an inch when the strange girl kicked her way through the enemies. How beautiful she was, even when there was blood on her clothes. Wendy watched her every move.
After all the enemies were lying on the ground, not moving, Wendy's shield disappeared.
"Finally," she thought. Immediately after the shield was gone, she sat down on the ground. Her feet had become so heavy - that's been way too much mana for her. She wasn't able to handle so much power inside of her body. Wendy was even happy she survived - in the beginning she'd thought the mana would tear her body apart.
Before noticing her with her eyes, Wendy heard how the strange girl approached her again. She frowned and again pulled at her skirt, trying to hide how nervous she was.
"Thank you," that was what she had to say. She opened her mouth, tried to speak, but she couldn't say a single word. Nothing but a cough came out of her mouth, so she closed it again.
"So.. why'd you tear down my sign?" the girl asked. Wendy finally looked up to her, staring her directly into her white eyes. Fascinating. Her irises were gone! Wendy had never seen such eyes before. She again opened her mouth but was to astonished to say something.
She stared at her rescuer for a couple of minutes, then she looked away.
"I..." she started, hesitantly. She paused for another minute before she continued. "I don't know." Lie.
"Yeah, I don't really know. I was angry... at... some boy I met in the library. He just came to me and... and wanted to have the book I wanted to read." Lie. Lie. Lie!
Wendy felt bad for lying to the girl who saved her. But she couldn't tell her the truth. And she looked away all the time. She wasn't able to look the girl in the eye and lie to her.
"Because I hate being so weak. Because I'm not able to ask someone for help, although I really need help. Because I suck at casting Ice magic." was what she should've said.
"I was just angry. That's all," was what she said.
