I do it because it amuses me and probably Gatsby too. He always gets so wiggly and tailwaggy. Which is adorable and prompts more ridiculousness on my part. So it's a good thing.

EDIT: Not babies, though. Well.... not as much as to my dog. Babies don't really give a **** how I, as not their mom (or dad) talk to them. But I do talk to children like they aren't idiots. They end up acting like they aren't idiots.
