A lot of my favorite humor comes from comedians being honest about shit, and creating that awkward laughter. Because everyone's there for a reason, and it's to laugh. If you can all agree that you're there (at a show, or maybe just watching HBO or comedy central) for that and you're not there to have a discussion, and you're just listening to this guy on stage, nobody really gets serious about it and takes it out of context and quotes you 1000 times. And then you don't feel the need to defend yourself or whatever. I don't really know if it will stand the "test of time", but it's gotta be the best. Jokes (like, "so two guys walk into a bar") are only good in context, but when you capture something that everyone can relate to and it makes them laugh instead of thinking about it negatively, there's something I like about it.
So I guess some of my favorite stuff are jokes about people that normally people would take offense to, because if everyone's laughing about it, it makes us realize we don't have to fight about every small little detail. I like seeing people laugh together, especially about issues that are serious. Because you know everyone acknowledges it's existence (racism, what have you), but I think laughing is a better solution than being angry about it.
