Maybe you just don't like it because of how ridiculous the premise is. How does anyone take this game seriously? The gameplay may be fantastic, I don't know, but if I can't get drawn into it, it's a failure as an RPG; and I can't get into something that casts Donald Duck as a main character. It just makes me want to laugh. If it were any other kind of game, I may forgive it - after all, the concept behind Mario is ridiculous enough to have been inspired by LSD - but for me to enjoy a narrative driven RPG, I have to be able to take it seriously.
