If they made $160k, they'd be taxed at 33% -- which means they'd keep $107,200 after federal income taxes -- not state income taxes, not Social Security, not Medicare. SS and Medicare total close to 8%. And some state income tax rates are above 9%. Quick -- what's 33+8+9?
