Lortin just stood there, with the artifact in his hand. The battle he just fought wasn't much of a battle, more like a duel that ended within the first few blows. The mana in the air was still raw, Lortin knew that he was being watched from someone, he didn't know where or who. He began to back trace out of the forest, through the darkness and back into the open fields of the mountains. It was coming close to sunset once again but this time Lortin wasn't going to make camp, he decided to just spend a few hours in the mountains at night and camp at Murdon's camp. He looked back at the forest and the trees were changing from green to brown slowly. "Is that my doing?" he thought to himself as he turned around and began to walk back towards Murdon's camp.

Lortin walked up to Murdon's camp and to his surprise Murdon was present. He put his things down and Murdon greeted him.

"How are you young one?" "Out on another errand for Kaohn?"

"Indeed, I'm not sure why he wants these artifacts. When I took this from that forest the forest began to change colors like it was dieing."

"Sounds bad, well I'm sure whatever Kaohn has planned is for the right reasons."

The next morning Lortin awakes with Murdon standing beside him ready in armor. "You ready boy?" Murdon said to Lortin.

"What?" Lortin asked, "what do you mean."

"I need to ask Kaohn a few things, thought I accompany you."

"By all means, please."

Murdon and Lortin set out back toward Drasna to return the artifact and for questions.

It was around the early afternoon when they arrived at Drasna. The mana was different, Lortin could sense it. It was also very quiet for the early afternoon. They walked into the courtyard to see the horrid site of student corpses all around.

"What the hell happened here," Lortin said out loud.

"Looks like a slaughter to me," Murdon replied.

Murdon headed towards the elder's tower while Lortin headed to the dorms to see if there were any survivors.
