Do men want intimacy more than women?

Men have more need for the physical act than women. It's nature. Theoretically, a woman only has to have sex once to get pregnant and 'create' new human beings, whereas a guy should want to impregnate as much women as possible. That's a purely biological appraoch of course.

I think men have more hormonal urges and needs than women in general. But what we actually do or want is not simply based on what nature wants you to do.

Whether men or women want to be more intimate than the other sex depends on a lot of factors. There's just so much that influences our behaviour, certainly when it comes to sex and intimacy with the opposite sex.

There's so many aspects of sexuality, intimacy, love, human relations. So I guess it really depends on what you mean by wanting/needing/responding to intimacy more than someone else.

I think in the current state of Western society, with emancipation and all, both men and women are 'wanting' intimacy.
