How the hell could I have missed this thread? You're work is amazing Chez. Everything in that picture is nicely detailed and I see nothing wrong about it. The way you made a snow environment in the painting adds so much into it. I wished I live in that house. >< It never snows here so it'd be nice to see it.

You're right, over webcam it looks like a scorch mark, but in real life the colours are a little brighter and it looks better. I should start taking digital shots of my work, it's just, it takes ages to upload to Photobucket.

Thanks, I appreciate that. I think the sky says a lot in "The Christmas Cottage." I was quite proud of it, so I'm glad others enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed painting it.

Thanks, Fishie! Hahaha, it does look rather homely! I made the home more of a beige-green than a grey or brown because I thought it would make it look a little warmer and more homely. I inititally painted it so that people would look and think "that looks like it would be nice to live in!" so I'm glad I got that responce, thank you. =)

Thanks! And yeah. But there's something about many traditional artsy Christmas pictures that look so warm and welcoming! You don't see many anymore apart from in Christmas shops. I'd love to spread my art far out and re-enthuse people about the creativity of the traditional fine arts.

This one isn't as Christmassy as the others. I did it plain, as a mix of white, black, different shades of grey and a smattering of red. I painted this one more to cater my own needs of a quiet Christmas picture. I basically thought I'd give painting houses a break and paint a snowy forest instead.

I realise this work isn't as impressive as the others, although it is preferred by some.

The shading's just right, and the way the snow falls on the trees is perfect. You seem to be very good at winter-y scenes. Keep it up! =D

Pastels are evile! The doodles look really nice. I don't know much about art, so don't be mad that this is a useless comment. (and I call anything that isn't a painting a doodle because I don't know it's actual name. Please don't take offense) The colors look really bright, but a lot of things look kind of smeared. Maybe a bit more neatness also so that colors are more crisp and pretty? (dunno)

The elf picture thing is scarily amusing...poor, bloody elf.

EDIT: Ooh. Web cams seem to cause lots of annoying problems. Sorry for the mess up.

Bleachfangirl; it's because I'm using a webcam to shoot them all. It's not my fault the pictures are blurred, it's the camera. In the following picture, you'll see detail. They were shot with my digital camera.

This one was spur of the moment. I just wanted to sketch a character that I wouldn't have to care too much about detailing.

Thanks. A lot of this I learnt over years of sketching and drawing from my mind. Some of it I learnt out of books and a little from college, too, so it's kind of come from everywhere.

And Kyo, thanks! I was hoping somebody would mention progression, and I'm glad you think so.

As for this next batch, this isn't really half of the work I've done over this year, and I have paintings to show you, but I won't post them up for today... I've finished four paintings since the start of this year, but there's no rush... I'll photograph them in time and post them up at a later date.

This is Eileen from Silent Hill 4: The Room. She didn't look nearly as beaten up before I got my hands on her, but I'm really happy with the result.

That was the picture of Eileen that I had back then.
That wasn't me, she was from a video game. I just made her look really beaten up. A lot of people thought it was me, strangely. And, well, I'm Eastern European and I have oriental blood here and there.

Thanks Silver! And yeah, pastels are a dream if you can learn how to use them properly. I've not even finished mastering them at all yet.
