Me and my bf are big fan of PvP and we love the Ultima Online style - kill anyone! =P. He's just wary about him getting pulled into WoW again. WoW ate 2 years of his life lol.

What I hate about WoW is its gear dependency. If you can raid 5 times a week, you'll get the best gears in the game and you can virtually kill anyone. But it doesn't take just an hour to raid..it takes 3-5 hours of assembling and coordinating 40 people (they reduced it to 25 now) and add to that , the potions and materials you need to prep for the raid.

Though I've seen the PvP/Arena rewards to be really good this time around. So you can also get good gear from PvPing.

I heard EVE was good too but I also heard that not many people are playing it..thus leaving you floating in space endlessly alone?

I wish Tabula Rasa will have a good PvP system. I've seen the gameplay movies and they look really nice and action packed. I saw a couple of gameplay movies and suddenly, WoW gameplay looked really boring...I lost interest in Conan and Warhammer Online (WH: O) after watching it lol (still considering Conan and WH: O if Tabula Rasa would suck though). On the other hand, WH: O pvp system looks interesting.
