Anyone for Naruto?

Spoiler: Sorry I was looking through Wikipedia so I am guessing it is wrong however I wast just reading this: In this show, our protagonist, Naruto, has just come back to his home town village after three years of training with his teacher Jiraiya. His friends who were previously Gennins, are now all Chuunins and Jounins. While his official ninja rank is that of a Gennin, Naruto is now far more powerful, and arguably at the strength of the powerful Jounin, or even Hokage-level ninjas. Spoiler: Haha, nah, it may be right. A lot of it is left up to opinion at this point. It's a natural thing in the whole "______ vs. ______" debate. He is most likely at around Jounin level, but he is still rather inexperienced. When the Kyuubi chakra kicks in he is much, much stronger, but it's at a price. So he may be able to achieve a level of raw power stronger than that of Kakashi, but Kakashi's own abilities and the drawbacks of using that much of the Kyuubi's chakra would make the outcome uncertain. But again, this will probably change later on. Naruto is the main character, after all. =P

Spoiler: So my assumption is that Jiraya and Tsunade are both more powerful than the 3rd but neither wanted the position until Tsunade decided to. In my opinion Naruto is really powerful but his problem is he doesn't have the ability to use it greatly (at least up to the timeskip) but because there is so much of it, it seeps out making him way above what he normally is, I would suspect he is at the level of a Chunnin after the exam and even a Jounin, and probably will become the Hokage down the road. I am guessing Kakashi is also at the same level as the Sannin but hasn't really shown it, also he may have learnt some of those abilities during the time skip though I can't be sure. I would suspect that Itachi is at the same level as a Sannin (Which is above Hokage right?) or even more as that group is more powerful than Orochimaru. These are all guessing, I have yet to find the details on their power

Spoiler: The way I see it, the Third was above all of the Sannin in terms of skill at that particular time. The problem was that he had aged so far that he was unable to utilize that skill properly. His age had made him frail, and his chakra capacity was lower than what it had once been. Orochimaru even admitted to some extent that if the Third had been maybe 10 years younger he could have defeated him. So I think that both Jiraiya and Tsunade at their current maximum would fall just short of the Third in his prime. As for Naruto and the Kyuubi chakra...He will probably never have the ability to use it liberally. The red chakra is an extremely volatile double-edged sword. I won't say why unless you ask (or happen to already know), but in the second half it becomes very unwise for him to use that chakra. At the time of the exam I would guess that he is above the average Chuunin due to the Kyuubi chakra. The thing is that he has that explosive Summoning technique that could put him above those who don't have the raw power or technique to deal with it (or the speed/initiative to stop him from summoning). The case is sorta the same with Gaara. I could see him beating Chuunin at that time, but could not honestly see him going toe-to-toe with a Jounin. Gai, for instance, was easily able to deal with Gaara's sand. But the moment that he unlocked Shukaku the situation changed completely. However, Sasuke was originally able to stop Shukaku's summoning by taking the initiative and piercing Gaara's 'impenetrable defense.' Kakashi is not as strong as a Sannin though. He has many limitations due to his bloodline incompatibility with the Sharingan, and his overall chakra is probably only somewhat above average. He is a genius ninja though, and quite young. He could surpass a Sannin in time, but at this point he lacks the battle experience. He is still weaker than Itachi, who is also not Sannin level. Itachi himself stated that if he and Kisame fought Jiraiya (a Sannin) head on, the best case scenario would be them killing Jiraiya in the process of him killing them. More men would not change the outcome of this. So while Itachi outclasses most Jounin by far, he is not yet of Sannin level. The Sannin are not necessarily stronger than Hokage level though. The thing is that the Hokage level fluctuates. It is the term for the strongest ninja in Konoha, while Sannin refers to Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Orochimaru specifically. The Third and Fourth were probably as strong as Sannin, and in the case of the 3rd had exceeded that of a Sannin thus far while in his prime. But basically, you could just say that, right now, Hokage level and Sannin level are the same thing, especially since the Fifth is one of the Sannin. And Akatsuki...It's sorta hard to say when we don't even know who the leader is. I would venture to say that most known members are about as strong as Itachi in their own way, if not slightly stronger (though not in the realm of a Sannin). I assume that Orochimaru is at a big disadvantage right now, effectively lowering his level. This is one reason why he is at a great disadvantage to Akatsuki. I won't explain the reason unless you want to know, though, even if it's rather simple. The other reason is Akatsuki's sheer numbers, but that would be less of a problem if Orochimaru was in his prime.

Spoiler: Edit: Also found this: Yet why this orphan child, named Uzumaki Naruto? There were certainly other children, with well known lineages that could have been chosen to be the jinchuuriki of the Kyuubi. For example, the Hyuuga clan, known for their Byakugan eye or the Uchiha clan, whelders of the formidable Sharingan could have been chosen - Hyuuga Hinata and Uchiha Sasuke were also born the same year as Naruto. There were certainly other children as well born around the same time - ironically, Naruto was just born, making him ideal in that aspect. However, that was not the only reason. Naruto contains a huge amount of chakra, which Kakashi states is double the amount of his - and with the Kyuubi, it could be 100 times as much. This was inportant in being able to combat the poisonous chakra of the most powerful bijuu - as seen when Sakura barely came in contact with it, she was hurt quite badly from a small wound. Spoiler: Kakashi did make that statement during the second half of the series. He also alluded to the possibility very early on, when Naruto and Sasuke were doing the tree-climbing training. However, chakra capacity does not necessarily equal overall power. I'm not sure what the reason was for placing the Kyuubi within Naruto. I doubt it's because someone knew that Naruto's chakra capacity was extremely large though. It most likely has to do with his connection to the Fourth, whether it be familial or something else. I believe that he could be a reincarnation of the Fourth, myself, but it's sorta useless to hypothesize. Kishimoto could take anything and make sense out of it. But again, I doubt it was Naruto's natural capacity that makes him a match for the Kyuubi. After being engulfed in the Kyuubi's chakra for a prolonged period of time, Naruto's body is a wreck. His natural capacity may help him survive, but it is mostly because the Kyuubi's chakra rapidly heals him afterwards. In the long-term, however, this is still very dangerous for Naruto. This is one reason why I said that the use of the Kyuubi chakra is unwise.
