I really wouldn't go with saying any of the genres are "similar."

Death and black are sister genres yes, but death metal is more of a rhythmically complex genre where as black metal is more based upon atmosphere through simplicity.

Doom is most similar to heavy metal actually, and in some cases death and black. It is quite possibly one of the most far removed styles from prog metal, which is most closely related to power I find.

I'm really bad at describing the actual quality that the music possesses in "technical" terms though.
