Right, so I'm addicted to the new Fire Emblem: Awakening. I knew I'd love it after the demo, but damn. It's now 2am here, and it's all I want to play haha. I bought myself a copy, and I went halves with the boyfriend on the console for him to play along with me (he's hooked too - he came over to my house last weekend just to play for five straight hours a day). Can honestly say it's worth buying a 3DS for (and the limited edition console is sweeeeeet).

I'm not playing on Classic, and I am playing on easy, but only because I have so many games to get through, I just want to play for the story for now. David is a purist, and is playing on Classic, so you can imagine I find his rage highly amusing when he looses a unit. I like how it gives you the option to turn it off completely, for the first time, so there's never a fear of maxing someone out with the best gear and then bumping into a difficult battle. I've heard that it's caused a few contradictions in the speech text when playing on Classic, but it's nothing awful. The class system is interesting too - once you hit level 10, you can use special items to change your character into the next rank. I've only changed one character so far, but made a different save as I wasn't sure if I wanted my main to be a Mercenary or Myrmidon. I might try out a Mage class on another save for fun. I think I need to just experiment.

Most of my time has been spent grinding for money in one of the DLCs and improving relationships with my units. A few have A rankings with each other, but I've never really fully worked out how to improve them; I've put them together in battles as a pair, come to a units aid, etc, but I have a feeling it might be random or based on more factors than that. The wireless feature is also pretty neat, if you want to play with someone else. I'm a little disappointed that you can't do real-time battles using it, but you can still Parley and then fight a team if you get another player via StreetPass. You can pick a team of three and help another player take on the computer to get some pretty cool items, but that can be a little tricky if your teams are on different levels/specialities.

I'm in love with the animation, even with the 3D turned on full (3D usually makes my eyes ache, but with this game it's perfect). The cut-scenes are beautifully done as well, and convey emotion (I won't spoil too much, but I cried a little at a death scene). The voice acting isn't terrible either, which I'm happy about as it's something I notice with games.

If you have a 3DS, I totally recommend this game - if you don't have one, it's defo time to upgrade. I've had a 3DS since just before my birthday and bought ten games - none have matched up to this. Almost every StreetPass hit I've had in the last two weeks have had people on this game (I let out a silent cheer when I see it pop up in my plaza, heh).

EDIT: I did check for another thread in the search and pages, but there was nothing. I'm disappointed in you guize.
